Unpopular opinion re: Thope

While I agree with many points in your post Dragonfly, I disagree on some. You might be 100% correct in your assessment. But, for me as a Hope fan, I truly wish for Hope to have some happiness for a while whether it is in business, with her children or having fun with Thomas. I do not think she is in love with Thomas either. But she does care about him. She sure seems to "love" having sex with him. But Hope has been under a cloud her whole life. Her beautiful mother has a terrible track record with men and she over-protected Hope mainly because of her shameful origins. Hope made a decision long ago to be the good girl who tries to always do what's right but also tries to please people. She has made mistakes like everyone else but never with malice but sometimes with impulsiveness. She has been tortured by Liam for years. I want her to have some space to grow and to only enter into a relationship with a man who respects her and knows she will not tolerate a threesome marriage.

My fear is that Liam, like Ridge, will never change. The writing for the character will never change because it often looks to me as if the writing favors male wants and desires with little to no consequences while the females must pant and yearn for said males til the end of time.

If this comes back around with Hope accepting an unchanged, waffling Liam I will be sickened.

I well remember a time when Brooke drew a line in the sand and waffling Ridge would not bend and she gave up on him. Later he changed his mind once he learned of Taylor's hypocrisy and chased Brooke for a long time. Once she went back, Ridge was okay for a pretty long period(til RM left) but once TK took over the games began again with Brooke chasing and begging that jerk. I don't want that for Hope.

I'm actually on the same page, mostly. I'm always going to want Hope and Liam together. They're my couple. But not under the current conditions. A lot has to change. Hope has already figured a lot of it out by wanting to get out of the toxic cycle. Liam, the bonehead, refuses to even entertain the idea that he has contributed to the marriage failing. I want them to get divorced. And I don't want them to reunite unless Liam finally wakes up to the fact that, letting the person who has made a career out of bullying Hope into their relationship, is NOT okay. And it goes without saying that Thomas needs to go too.

I get what you're saying about the Liam/Ridge comparison. Ridge has never learned that lesson and Brooke keeps taking him back. Maybe she'll wake up too.
