If Hope had sex with Tom in Rome, and then she is pregnant and needs a test, how would this go down? You cannot legally divorce in California, if you are pregnant. So Lope would have to stay married until the baby is born. Then how would Tom feel about being a step-dad to 2 Lope kids, knowing that Hope is always going to love Liam? How would Liam feel having Tom as the step-dad to 2 of his kids? And what would make it more interesting is, Liam would be the child's legal father no matter if it was Tom's or not. If Tom's child, Liam would have to sign away his rights. Even with a paternity test, Liam would have to agree to let Tom adopt the child. What if that went down, and Liam said "nope, you are not going to be the babies legal father". LOL. That would mean that Liam would have more rights than Tom to his child, and Tom could not even pull some of the stunts he pulled using Douglas, to control Hope. Liam would have 50% custody of Tom's child and if something happened to Hope, he could cut Tom off completely from the child, if he chose to. California is one of the few states where biology does not trump marriage.

Now I think if Hope is going to be pregnant, Liam will have already gotten one of his quickie divorces before she finds out, but then I wonder, if they would even be legally divorced.

I don’t think Bell is going to make Annika play a pregnancy considering her recent losses.

But not being able to finalize a divorce doesn’t mean much. You can file and move on with your life you just can’t get married again until it's final.
And those things regarding paternity are not true. Yes Liam would be the legal father. He would go on the birth certificate but once the divorce is final it is not difficult to go to court and have that changed. Unless Liam could prove they planned to have the child together (for example Thomas was just the sperm donor and they would have to have paperwork stating that) he would have no standing.

It could certainly get messy if Liam wanted to drag it through the courts but in the end the bio parent would win.
