The difference is Adam is a complex character and Thomas is a one trick pony. I love Adam, I did not when he first came on. While his anger was justified, his evil deeds were not. Hope was wrong by not allowing him to know who his father was. He changed for the better when he got up with Chelsea and when he was responsible for Ashley's baby's death it brought out the compassion side of him in a weird and he started showing true remorse. Something else, the Newman brats and Nikky hate Adam because he was a product of love. He is a constant reminder that Victor loved another woman deeply. (They get along with Abby, because she was a product of theft and not love) Yes they love and accept Abby now, but there has been rivalry between Vicky and Abby)

Thomas on the other hand has never shown true remorse, he goes through the motions to please his parents, but he is waiting for the next time to cause trouble,,, Like some has said... Adam pays for what he has done, Thomas gets away with everything.
