Historically, I have been a big Hope fan from the time Brooke learned she was pregnant. I had great compassion for a child conceived in such a big soapy scandal even though I know it’s make believe. However, Hope has always been confused and fickle. Hope wants to be both decent and she wants to be desired. That’s my interpretation. Yes, she has issues because of her parents. She was once referred to as a stain on the family name. However, it’s not all about Deacon and Brooke. Steffy, whether you love her or hate her or you’re in between like me, Steffy bullied Hope. Just look at the old scripts. Steffy taunted and teased Hope about sex. On the one hand, Steffy kept throwing up Brooke’s sins in her face and on the other hand, Steffy teased Hope about being a virgin. Steffy pursued all of Hope’s boyfriends just to show her who was the boss. Sure that was a long time ago, but if this were really world, Steffy’s actions were terrible bad girl bullying. Also, while Thomas hated Rick for understandable reasons, he and Hope were always close. That’s why some of us have icky feelings about that brotherly—sisterly like relationship with a shared brother and stalking mixed in. So, yes Hope is a waffler, and unfortunately, she will take a beating because a woman falling for her stalker is not relatable and as Bell reportedly said, not root worthy.
