Maybe this is to tear Bill down to Ridge’s level since many say Bill is better than Ridge.
Bill does love Katie. He loves her fire and fight but he also wants to do his own thing without being nagged.
He should have been with Quinn!

I have seen some fans rooting for BRILL, thinking Bill would be the better partner, but Bill in the past has already been written to quickly switch between the women (and had been ready to rename the Stella Maris twice).

When his wife Brooke turned her back on Bill, Bill quite easily shifted his feelings to Steffy and even kinda became obsessed with her (put his feelings for Steffy even before his relationship with his own son) when he then even blackmailed Steffy.

But soon later Ridge was back to loving Katie and wanting to be a family with her, raising their son together.

Then he has kissed Brooke again, even when he was involved with Katie. But then he was focused again on winning Katie back (when Brooke was only interested in Ridge).......
