The show makes less sense with each episode

I really hoped that happened already with the Vinnie story when Tom actually seemed to have changed, helping to get Liam out of jail. Why in heavens they suddenly decided to go back to "bad Tom" I will never understand...why make up a whole story to redeem him if they make him a villain again with his next story?
I also think that Tom is more disturbed than just plain bad...it may have to do with his mother, we know Taylor is very unstable too.
I remember after she returned and she and Ridge were living with Tom and the twins, all teenagers already, that she once freaked out over finding a condome among Tom´s things. Instead of being glad her son is a responsible young man she said what he was thinking having a thing like that in the same house where his teenage sisters live and what if Steffy and Phoebe found it?
When he was in love with Gaby she called the authorities on her and wanted her deported...the story ended amicably, Tom´s marriage to Gaby was annulled but Gaby allowed to stay and study in the US, but for some time Tom certainly hated his mother for her behaviour.

I agree with your post, Lizzy, though I didn't see the show during that time period.

I agree that Thomas is mentally ill, and at his core, he's really a good person who wants to be a good person and a good father. He seemed well on the road to redemption until Taylor's return. I think Taylor and Steffy (who involves Thomas in her schemes and manipulations) are bad influences on Thomas and drag him down. He doesn't have the overbearing personality of his sister, thank goodness, but it does allow her to bully him. I hope Thomas manages to overcome his trouble and act like the good man he really is and be a good father to Douglas. But, for that to happen, I really think he needs to separate himself from Taylor and Steffy.

When Thomas lied about sleeping with Brooke and the truth came out, he begged Dayzee not to breakup with him and he said his family were like quicksand, the more he struggles against them, the deeper he sinks and he needed someone like Dayzee with goodness and strength to pull him out.
I think you’re right that Taylor and Steffy are bad influences who drag him down and I hope the writers just make him mentally ill, pop him on some meds and redeem him completely- he works better as a foil to Steffy than as her sidekick (or lackey!).
