It's not destiny when you have to fight for it

I don't know for how long you've been watching B&B, but during the 90s and early 00s, Brooke was always 2nd choice after Taylor. B&B had to kill off Taylor twice so that Brooke could have Ridge. He didn't do any crawling. It was Brooke who did the begging and seducing and lying. It was never destiny.

What makes them destiny is the way they have always found their way back to each other, even after there were times where it seemed like they never would and even after being ripped apart by manipulations several times. Ridge choosing Taylor over Brooke twice, thinking she was the real love of his life, or Brooke choosing Eric and Nick over Ridge, thinking she could be happier with them, only for both Brooke and Ridge to find out that they were wrong, is actually even more proof that they are destiny.

And it's not even true that Brooke was "always" Ridge's second choice in the 90s. When he first got married to Taylor in 1992, Brooke had clearly been his first choice. He just couldn't bear destroying his father's marriage when he realized how happy being with Brooke and little Rick made Eric, that's why he staged that affair with a model the night before he took off to St.Thomas, hoping to make Brooke so mad at him that she would run back to his father. He even told Stephanie he was making an incredible sacrifice by giving up on Brooke for Eric's sake. And Taylor wasn't his first choice either when he proposed to her on the runway with the ring meant for Brooke in 1996.
I'm also sure that Bridge would still have reunited in the 90s and 00s if Taylor hadn't been presumed dead. If HT hadn't left the show twice, there would have been another reason for a Tridge breakup. There's no way they would have stayed married forever.
