I thought Hope had her own attorney. Maybe Carter screwed up Thomas paperwork and he gave up Douglas all together. Then we could watch the faux Forrestors heads explode.

Yes, Carter had nothing to do with the adoption papers.
Hope told Brooke that she had gone to an adoption lawyer.

Carter's only involvement had been to inform Ridge that they (Ridge and Carter) couldn't do anything and the adoption process was on the roll - Thomas having the papers signed and Thomas assuring Hope that she could file them and he wouldn't contest them - unless Thomas would change his mind.

But that was more than 2 years ago, so how long does a CA adoption lasts?
How long after it has been finished, can you try to make it unhappen?
