It couldn't have been that sudden. She didn't sign a new contract and they knew she didn't re-sign.

She hadn't 100% decided not to renew. In her interview, she said it was sudden. Her contract was up in May, and she hadn't heard from the show. She wanted to find out what they had planned for her. The show basically reached out after summer break and said they really had nothing planned and wanted her to go to reoccurring. She refused, and they decided that Fri would be her last day.
