Are we really surprised tho… I mean look who she’s named after. Stephanie acted the same way.

I wasn't watching back then... wasn't Stephanie at least a little likeable at times?

Well, I used to refer to Stephanie as the Mother In Law from Hell. Battleaxe was another favourite of mine when referring to her. She might have had her moments (few and far berween), but IMO, they were overshadowed by her vengeful, nasty manipulations and schemes. However, she did mellow at the end.

I always said that Stephanie was a character I loved to hate. As bad as she was I enjoyed watching her. She had some special moments of kindness that were believeable.

Love to hate is exactly right. She was not totally full of hate and spite the way Steffy is.

That's what I was wondering. I've seen some old episodes and I got the vibe that she did have a soft side buried somewhere in there. Steffy, not so much.
