They are making significant changes to the characters and approach. To some it will appear that they are changing history. They prefer to see it as an evolution.

If show would have courage to say they are making dramatic changes and this is a new B&B it wiukd be more tolerable.

No it wouldn’t be more tolerable. It would mean they are purposely doing it to mess with our intelligence OR they are just plain that stupid.
