Maybe while Sheila is going to get his meds, either she leaves her phone & Finn manages to get to it & call for help, or he manages to get out of bed & leave the apartment.

I can see Steffy getting a call from Finn and thinks she’s losing her mind. Hence, the mental hospital.

I agree. This scenario makes the most sense to cause her to check into a facility for help.
