Finn didn’t nearly get the boot, the show never intended Finn to be dead. The presumed death was just drama for his and Steffy’s story.

Characters don’t have to be good all the time but if they are meant to be a “good guy”, desirable, which Carter is, they shouldn’t be written to do something so heartless.
