Can his character look worse? It's like he hangs out in the yard waiting for Brooke to get home. How many times does he have to say, "If I was with you..." Brooke might want him more if he had someone in his life.

He’s been chasing behind Brooke since he came back. He’s an ex-con that lives in a closet. The last thing he needs is a woman. He can barely take care of himself.

I think deacon would have turned out a lot different if he and Brooke had gotten together and raised Hope. He really loved her and her ditching him at that time was hard on him.
