SC again says Liam IS a villain... (General)

Drangonfly @, 4/22/2024, 6:22PM (11 days ago)

...and that he has not been redeemed...yet.

A New Beginning?

Given that soaps have a habit of redeeming characters that in real life we’d shun, Clifton has a hunch that a comeback is in store for Liam, regardless of how villainous — yes, villainous — his behavior has been. “We don’t all know a John Wayne Gacy or a Unabomber, but we do know guys just like Liam, and there is this visceral, deep resentment toward them, especially on a show where the narrative is that they’re supposed to be this noble figure,” the actor observes. “It takes a lot to redeem a character like that, and Liam is not redeemed, but [this period of self-reflection] is a step in that direction.”

He says a lot more interesting stuff, too. Not sure if it's within the rules to post a link but it was an interview with Charlie Mason, posted on SSK.

Sounds to me, he considered Liam's waffling history as "villainous" given that most characters on this show still view Liam as a decent good guy despite his years of bad habit between the 2 women. I do agree with the bold part though.

Yep..it'll be a long road til Liam is redeemed given today he was still inappropriately talking to a married Steffy about their "exremely in love" past..and how that kind of love don't die?! Smh. And trashy married Steffy sat there ate it all up.

Yep!

If they could redeem a dirt bag like Tom in 8 months, they can do Liam in about 8 weeks. Redemption will be complete with the reunion of Lope. IMO that is where this is heading.

8 weeks? Really? 13 years can be turned around in 8 weeks? I'll have to watch to see how that goes down. For the record I don't believe Tom has been redeemed either. A past like that doesn't just disappear.

I don't see Liam as villainous. I see Liam as a coward. At least a villain has some drive and intention. Liam just takes the easy road and call it a day. He interchanges between dumb and dumber and see which one of the dopey women will fall for his sh*t he sprinkled some BS and a lot narcissism on. Its not hard to redeem a character. Liam hasn't crossed a lot of lines to be considered oh so horrible, look we have Brooke and Ridge as prime examples. Apparently he's been taking lessons from the King and Queen of narcissism. And then their little spawns play pretend high and mighty victims. But Liam can be redeemed with a lot of thought and one of the things that will redeem him is if he finds his own new life, a new romantic interest away from Steffy and Hope finally destroying that toxic connection from both.

I think all it takes to redeem someone like Liam is a few lines of dialogue. And last week Liam had that dialogue. But it doesn't seem to be sticking. Maybe we're going to get an actual redemption story?

I'm thinking that Sinn will separate because of the Sheila thing and Liam will swoop in. Then, at the end of that story, when Sinn reunite, Liam will have his wake up call.

I don't think him finding a new love interest will help if he doesn't have that wake up call and make actual changes. He'll just continue the behavior with different women.

I did not see that at all in the interview. He said that he tried to get back with Steffy and Hope both, and they both rejected him. He then went on to say that Ivy would be an interesting hookup because she had a singular experience with Liam. I did not see the part where he said he would fall all over himself to get to Steffy if she dumped Finn.
