Annika on Hope’s evolution (General)

I wanted to show the evolution of Hope Logan. Going from her denial about her feelings for Thomas and saying that she’d never be anything like her mother, then cutting to Liam confronting Hope about her infidelity and Brooke [Katherine Kelly Lang] catching her and Thomas in bed together. Ultimately, she kind of comes into her own and finds her own strength, essentially calling Liam’s bluff and saying, ‘You want a divorce? Here’s your divorce!'

I like AN, but what strength though? For Hope to ditch her core values and cheated with no remorse..to hooking up with your stalker/child abuser is a major down grade..regardless whether the devil's "changed" or not. JMO. And look where it got Hope? Given the whole time Thope were never on the same page..they were a total joke!

Shown on screen, Steffy blackmailed Bill. Yet, she told Ivy (and Liam too) that “blackmail is a crime”. Per Steffy’s own words, she IS a criminal cuz she has blackmailed.

I agree with you!
I did not see evolution except for her openness about sex. Tgst us a bad message. Being open about sex does not make you a woman. And while we are taught to forgive - never forget.
Tgst man watched you go through emotional depression and kept your daughter’s existence from you. Whether it was a year or a week!
And - he told you - your daughter is dead - get over it! Thomas should never have been part of Hope’s evolution!

Exactly! They could've done Hope's evolution in a completely different but believable way. Instead, the show gave us that creepy, forced Thope garbage starting with her sudden fantasies that never made sense to begin with. Just bizarre!

A woman admitted walking on the wild side and playing with fire (and can't even get on the same page to a dude who's so desparately wanted marriage)..Thope sure doesn't sound all that positive to this viewer. LOL.

Yeah, the writers apparently don't know what a real woman is. Real women do not have to cheat and destroy their families. Real women already understand what it's like to have feelings for more than one person, and real women are not hypocrites, holding in their feelings for another man but chastising her husband for doing the same about another woman. And Hope has had like 3 or four from "girl" to "woman" SLs. Why doesn't it stick, I wonder?

Yeah, even the way this is written just reaffirms how much this SL made me detest Hope. It showed me the evolution of Hope into an insolent brat.

Well we all have our own opinions. Falling for Thomas is a weak move. He abused her for years. Now all of a sudden she thinks her abuser is healed. Staying with Liam a weak move. My goodness why, especially after the one night stand. Not dealing with Steffy a weak move. She should leave Forrester. Her family has money. Constantly complaining about her mother a weak move. Hope was, is, and will always be weak. I used to be a big Hope fan. She’s the reason I despised Steffy character. Now, I don’t care much for Steffy or Hope.

Falling for Thomas was her best move. She isn’t constantly complaining about her mother but what she has said is true. I can’t imagine growing up with my mom changing men like Brooke did. Constantly chasing Ridge, who is a loser. Any child would have lasting issues being raised like that. Hope is speaking the truth. She loves her mother but I don’t blame not wanting to do the same things as Brooke. Just Hope realizing doesn’t make her weak at all. Just the opposite

I thought she was saying that Hope's evolution was no longer accepting Liam's cheating.

Yes, but she also brought up the Thomas nonsense too in bold which didn't paint Hope in a good light though (given the evil Thomas has done regardless he's "changed" or not).

I think it's amazing how the actors/writing tries to portray something but it comes across as something not even close. I didn't think Thope was Hope's evolution at all. If anything it was regression. Cheating on one's husband and wanting to have a NSA relationship with someone who she is well aware is obsessed with her, is not evolution. Destroying her daughter's home and saying that the man who tried to keep her existence from Hope is family, is not evolution. These are the kinds of things selfish, self absorbed teenagers do. They don't care anything about people around them as long as they get their gratification. That's what Hope became. Not a woman. A petulant, selfish brat. And as long as she keeps saying she loves Thomas, she will be that same selfish brat.
