They made Steffy insufferable since her return from ML (General)

I've never liked her character (too many reasons to list, the main one was probably her decade long obsession with Liam and her vendettas against the Logans). Although there were times I could tolerate her and even defend some of her choices (when Wyatt and Quinn manipulated her for ex). But right now? She is easily the most hostile, unfriendly, vile character on canvas for me. Even her appearance... she looks so dark and spiteful in most of her scenes.

I think it started when she left town. The reasons why she left her husband never made sense to begin with. She was going to move back in after weeks of separation. She threw a tantrum, blamed all her problems on Finn and punished him just because of 1 interaction with Sheila at the cliff house. But it got worse after her return from maternity leave.

I hate to defend characters I normally despise (Sheila, Deacon, Thomas) but she is making them look nice in comparison. The recent feuds with Sheila were all initiated by Steffy. Sheila was leaving her and her family alone. She had no right to barge into Deacon's place like this and assault Sheila multiple times in her own home. I could understand her more when she slapped Quinn in Monte-Carlo but in this case, she lit the fire for no valid reason. No matter what Sheila did in the past, nothing justifies all these physical assaults against her.

How does "resurrecting" Sheila redeem Steffy? Someone died that night anyway. In fact it makes Steffy look even worse if the person she killed wasn't Sheila Carter. The whole "Sheila is dangerous" argument falls flat if it was Shugar (or whoever it was). She still grabbed a knife, stabbed someone, witheld informations from the police and obstructed the investigation. And showed little remorse for her actions. I don't care if it was self-defense at this point, just like with Aly. She took 2 lives and lied in both cases. She'll always look bad for how she handled things, even if she never meant to murder anyone on purpose. The lack of remorse is mind-boggling.

She looks too hypocritical in her situation with Liam. How is she not a waffler since the Rome scenes? She blamed Brooke for her 1 drunken kiss with Deacon and declared "Brooke never loved Ridge" because she witheld that kiss from him. She blames Hope for not being honest with Thomas even after they told her to mind her own business. She punished Finn for months because he wasn't honest with her about the hugs with Sheila. All she does is judging other people and demanding the truth, but in the meantime she broke her vows and is lying to Finn on a daily basis. Not just talking about the 2 kisses here. She had numerous daydreams about these kisses. She continuously lets Liam interfere in her marriage (still doing it now). She spends unnecessary time with him knowing he wants her back. She repeatedly lied to Finn about Liam's romantic overtures towards her. She straight-up told Liam that she will always love him and then told Finn the opposite. And stayed quiet when he said they would end up together sooner or later. Her heart is clearly divided (even JMW said so) yet she continues to lecture everyone for not being honest.

Her interferences against Hope's love life aren't helping. She has been downright nasty to her. Constantly comparing her to her mother, reminding her of how she cheated on Liam, telling Liam and Thomas they deserve better, accusing her of corrupting and using Thomas. I immensely hate the tone she uses when she talks to her... the smug, the condescending judgement in her voice. They even made me feel sorry for Thomas after her last scene with him. No matter how messy his history with Hope is, nothing justifies Steffy's manipulative tactics. I can never forget the way she bragged and basked when she learnt Thomas broke up. This is gonna backfire sooner or later.

She is looking just as unlikable with Deacon. She has no empathy, no mercy for his grief. She should know better than anyone what it's like to lose your partner. Now she is basically saying Deacon is crazy... even deep down, a part of her isn't 100% sure Sheila is dead. Deacon is the person who saved her life yet she acts like he is the scum of the Earth. I don't like Deacon myself, but he doesn't deserve this.

I really need someone to slap her and teach her a lesson. Uncover the truth about the 2 kisses and her divided heart and blab it to Finn and then he spends the night with another woman (like she and Bill when Liam kissed Sally). Her marriage needs to come to an end. When she goes running back to Liam, she finds him on a date with Ivy and he says no thanks. Then Finn decides to take Hayes and visits Sheila and tells her he will never let her bark orders again. She deserves this kind of karma

Steffy has always been insufferable to me. Nothing will make her likable. Her smug looks, her running her tongue between her teeth and upper lip all of the time, her trashy clothes, her condescension with everyone (especially Logans). I cannot find one good thing about her.

Great post. The problem with this show is that Steffy is never held accountable. No matter what she does she always comes out smelling like roses. And it's getting old. She deserves at least some form of comeuppance.

I have no sympathy for Steffy's suffering.. I do not think she suffered enough. She has yet to hold herself accountable. If she has not been stalking and harassing Shelia, then Shelia would not have pulled out her gun.
She should have listened to her husband and stayed home and leave Shelia alone.

Great post. The problem with this show is that Steffy is never held accountable. No matter what she does she always comes out smelling like roses. And it's getting old. She deserves at least some form of comeuppance.

she has suffered lots and even went through a mental breakdown last year.

I'm talking about the consequences of her actions. Not stuff that's beyond her control. She declared a war against Brooke and Hope, Thomas followed her instructions, but when he was caught, he's the only one that was blamed. Steffy was actually thanked by Brooke and Hope. She enjoys so much breaking the law and outing other people and expects everyone to be honest with her but has no issues keeping her own stuff secret. I doubt if her kisses with Liam will ever come to light and yet she made such a big deal of Deacon and Brookes kiss. Steffy is a major hypocrite and the show writes her that way by not giving her any consequences and letting her get away with everything with her victims actually thanking her!

Exactly. Liam kissed Sally when he thought they were going to die, and Steffy spent the night with Liam's father (with the resulting WTD storyline). Finn should do the same

I guess I don’t like Steffy any more or less. I never cared for the character. When Steffy is nasty, she is nasty. She’s only kindly towards her own immediate family. She treats professional people like the Laurens and others OK. She was nice to Paris annd Luna, but that’s about it. She doesn’t care for Li. She probably will bump heads with Poppy. Steffy is the same. I will defend her right to defend herself against Aly and Sheila. Overall, she’s not a nice person. She’s very unhappy.

Didn’t Liam force those kisses? I didn’t watch the Rome garbage but I did have to see the awful scene where he came over to her house and pushed his face into her’s for a kiss.

And I wasn’t watching at all during the Thope saga and the “Liam Wants Steffy” saga but I thought she flashed back to the kisses, but not in a daydream way. At least that’s what I read.

In any case, for now she chose Finn. She had every opportunity to choose Liam and she didn’t. How long that will last, I don’t know.

Steffy wanted her parents back together. It wasn’t right, how she acted, but she did it out of love for her mother. She also could’ve let the wedding go through and didn’t.

She couldn’t foresee then that Liam would come after her.

I assume she isn’t telling Finn so as not to upset him.

I would like her to tell him, but I don’t want him to turn on her for it since it was Liam’s doing.

I’m sure it’ll come out.

The OP is about hypocracy and I see a lot in Steffy. Since when it is ok to start a war "out of love"? And why it is ok only for Steffy to do it?
And why "i don't tell Finn to not upset him" is valid and "I don't tell Ridge to not upset him" is wrong?

And she was on her way to tell Ridge when the witch ran to him and told him that Brooke was having an affair with Deacon. Brooke was trying to wrap her head around what happened.

What is so sick is for some reason a couple of characters (including Steffy) can lie about her child's paternity, or an affair, or stolen kisses for years and get away with it.

I also see it hypocritical that Brooke is slammed for not telling about Bill forcing kisses on her and she gets exposed and her life ruined because "she doesn't want to upset Ridge, but Steffy gets to get away with her kisses with Liam because she doesn't want to upset Finn.

I’m sure it’ll come out. They are just waiting until they want to bust up Sinn for a time and let Leffy have its day again.

As a Sinn fan, I don’t care if that day never comes lol. I’m fine with Steffy getting away with this one lol. I still don’t think it was her fault and she’s not thinking about what Brooke went through.

None of the characters do, so that isn’t unique to Steffy.

I’m sure that when Ridge finds out about what Zende did, he won’t remember or mention his own transgressions while he trashes Zende.

Unfortunately that’s how this soap works.

In the end, Brooke got Ridge back.

I don’t deny there was hypocrisy. The soap is full of it.

I guess I’m just saying I don’t think her hiding the kisses is a sign that she still wants Liam.

Steffy doesn’t like the Logans, we have had times where she has been kind to them but most of the time Steffy dislikes them, because it was drilled into her by her grandmother that Brooke “infiltrated” the family and I think Steffy has a belief that it’s her job to “protect” the family.

As someone who likes the Logans, I’m not happy when Steffy is mad at them but I doubt that’ll ever change. Maybe on the last episode lol.

But in regards to her and Finn, I think she’s in love with him, not Liam, I don’t see waffling there. Liam underestimated her love for Finn.

The characters are like that though, they never think of their own misdeeds while judging another character.

Those things involving Brooke happened before Liam kissed Steffy, so maybe she’d be more sympathetic to Brooke now?

Finn is definitely the kindest of the two, he is kind of like the Gabrielle to Steffy’s Xena. The light to her ability to go to the dark side. I think they balance each other.

That is a good question?. Why is accountability something Steffy doesn’t seem to face? Steffy is allowed to bully, manipulate, cheat, lie and even physically attack and kill people and still be considered a good person. It’s astounding to me that she faces little or no consequences… from anyone!

It was a stupid story, I didn’t get it. I can only think she thought she was helping Taylor but I didn’t think it made sense after she got Finn back, a miracle.

I think the characters are written to advance plot above all else. There have been times Steffy has admitted Brooke makes Ridge happy, or smiled over their interactions.

When they brought Taylor back they had Taylor desiring Ridge which imo hindered the character. She could have been paired with someone else.

I’m just glad that story is over.

And I wish that the Leffy kisses had never happened. I think they were testing audience reaction to a possible Leffy do over.

I’m hoping they failed the test (sure did to me, and ratings sure didn’t boost because of it) and Leffy will never be revisited and it’s dropped.

Plus I don’t mind the kisses not coming out because: Finn will once again be in the “He’s Always Wrong” position.

If he doesn’t get mad at her, those who don’t like him will say he’s a wimp but if he does get mad at her, I’ll be seeing the usual “he’s not good enough for Steffy and she should dump him for Liam” posts….

Sure, she did it out of love for her mother. But at Brooke's expense. There is nothing good about that. And, yes, she could've let the wedding go through and didn't, but that's the problem. She was the mastermind of the parent trap. She got Thomas to do her bidding. And at the end of the story he took the fall and she was written as the hero, which was ridiculous because of everything she did leading up to it.

She declared war on the Logans, trashed Brooke left and right, called her horrible names, broke into her security system, and deliberately tried to destroy her marriage. Then the nastiest thing of all...she went for the jugular when she saw Brooke sitting on that bench, crying her eyes out after Ridge dumped her.

Yes she is... I kinda feel bad for Thomas on some levels. He has always been easily manipulated by his family members. However, He is responsible for the evil stuff he does. He could easily say no to the schemes. Right now Steffy is the one who ropes him in her schemes and leaves him holding the bag. Same thing happened with Stephanie.
I am not going to defend him for the Beth situation but the moment he found out about Beth he was on his way to tell Steffy but couldn't hurt her. I can understand that..... However, he saw a way to use that information to further drive a wedge between Hope and Liam. He knew that by withholding the information he could make both his and Steffy's dreams come true.

One of the most defining moments in the Beth saga was when Thomas yelled at Hope that "Beth is gone!" and told her she had to let her go, though he knew very well she was alive and well. He didn't not tell because of his sister. He was perfectly fine letting Hope, the woman he claimed to love, be in pain. So much so that he yelled when he wasn't getting his way.

I don’t disagree with what you say about the story but I don’t think Steffy is evil. She can get a cruel streak at times, it comes from her family.

But she does have goodness in her too.

The show writes her back and forth with Brooke. Like they did Stephanie and all of Brooke’s rivals.

I struggle to find anything good about her at all. Sure, she's nice to her loved ones. That's easy. But, to almost everyone else, she's nasty and judgmental. She's arrogant and violent. And, yes, she does indeed have a cruel streak. But when someone has a cruel streak it doesn't come and go. It's always there. It just comes to the surface when someone dares to disagree with them.

Except, insufferable hypocrite Steffy always expected Finn to behave all loyal to her only and be totally honest with her, yet she herself couldn't do the same and tell him the truth about her 2 cheating kisses? What a disgusting low life Steffy is! With her do as I say and not as I do superior attitude and smug face.:roll And doing evil/scheming "out of love" ain't a good excuse in my book either..since when is starting a war a good thing?!

She wasn’t being good wanting to start a war. Steffy is an extremely flawed character. I have been on and off with liking her for a long time. I despised her behavior in the early parts of the Lope triangle.

In the case of Wivy though, I found myself siding with Steffy because I thought it was nice that she was trying to protect Wyatt.

And I think she has grown up from the days of 2011/12.

She isn’t perfect but she loves a good man like Finn, I think that shows growth. I think it shows goodness. In the past her ideal was a fellow schemer like Bill, later transferred onto his son who has his own flaws.

I feel sorry for Hope and Steffy being in the middle of these family wars that “Queen Stephanie” started. It’s got to be a hard place to be in.

It all began with Mr. Douglas (don’t remember his first name) abusing Stephanie and her mom not helping, and then her going after Beth’s fiancé Eric.

I like the dysfunctional family drama though.

However I would like a new rival for Steffy and new rival for Finn, new characters involved with Sinn because imo Steffy vs Hope and Finn vs Liam are played out.

Sorry, I'm not gonna buy that she was protecting Wyatt. IMO, Steffy hated Ivy, so she purposely interfered with Wivy knowing that Ivy was coming clean to Wyatt..it's typical nasty bully Steffy who lives to interfere MANY relationships (Batie/Lope/Livy/Wivy/Tally/Queric/Bridge)!

And no, just because she landed a good man does NOT mean she showed growth or showed goodness..given the fact she was already with Finn when she spent a year doing her parent trap scheme and starting a war against Brooke/Hope when these Logan women did absolutely nothing to her at the time. Nope. Not to mention, she purposely went to Sheila's home..poked this bear, assaulted/harrased her too.

I think it’s because they want Steffy to be badass and like her grandmother. I think she honestly believes she’s doing right by her family.

Doesn’t make the actions right but that’s how soap characters are.

And other than the silly “war” story she hasn’t done anything against the Logans.

Just not gonna buy the excuse that she's doing right by her family either given the fact she never told HER BROTHER the truth about Bill's despicable lie about Caroline dying..she chose to side with Bill instead of her own brother. And it wasn't just the Logans she bullied, she's done plenty nasty deeds to other women as well.

Disagree completely..given her RECENT behaviors of harrassing/assaulting Sheila in Sheila's own home that triggered Sheila in the first place! Plus, this queen of intererence butt into Thope too. She has NOT grown more mature at all imo. I think we should just agree to disagree.

Badass people aren't mean and nasty. They're tough and strong willed. Steffy is just a bully. Big difference. She's awful to people. Imagine if Hope or Brooke punched other characters in the face.

Finn is a very likeable character, IMO. I wish he was paired with someone nicer. Or at least someone who isn't violent.

I totally agree. Steffy being violent is treated like it´s a cute characteristic, just typical of her. Even Liam smiled when he talked with Carter about Steffy´s violence. I don´t remember any other woman just walking into someone´s house and punching them in the face.
Even though Sheila is a criminal, that´s not how justice works. Steffy better had testified against the woman who shot her and Finn.

She sure has. Aside from convincing Thomas to break up with Hope which finally was his own decision, but Steffy sure helped by badmouthing Hope to him for hours, she also did the same with Brooke, and in the presence of her useless father who just listened until Brooke finally asked him if he really planned to let his daughter insult her in front of him. She behaved like an immature teenager not like a responsible mother of two in her mid-thirties.:roll

Liam did not FORCE the kisses. She could have easily turned her head and pulled away. She CHOSE not to.

I hope she wasn’t.

I disagree with a couple of points raised in this post. All I will say is, if Steffy goes down, she can go down by herself. There's no need to sink Finn to her level. Let her be the one who messes up and has to fight for Finn and their marriage.

Finn does not need to cheat on her or sleep with another woman. After they separate, Finn can move on to someone like Bridget or Amber.

Finn does not need to bond with Sheila or take Hayes to her. That would just be foolish on his part. Let's not make Finn dumb or unlikeable just because of the way Steffy is acting.

Finn has already been made dumb and unlikeable several times. That’s why I, like @rexitaliano, would be just fine with Steffy moving on from Finn. Pairing Finn with Bridget might be a natural progression but very boring. Why anyone who actually likes Finn would want to sic Amber on him is beyond me, but to each their own and I wouldn’t really care what they did with him next. Anyway, before and after return from ML Steffy has been written as very bothered by the idea of Sheila as her MIL. In some cases that has caused her to make bad decisions, like confronting Sheila, and it’s sure to cause her big problems when Sheila is resurrected. She’s currently in denial and her mind can’t even entertain the possibility.

Why do they dumb Finn down? To protect Steffy, Liam, and Sheila. Steffy and Liam get away with the secret kisses, Liam's interferences/bashing of Finn and their lack of boundaries, as Finn never gets to confront them. However, Finn is always held accountable by those two when it comes to anything regarding Sheila. Sheila also gets to have this out-of-the-blue connection with Finn, someone she shot and left to die. He's merely a plot device for these characters. None of this benefits Finn's character.

I am a Sinn fan, but the imbalance in the pairing needs to be resolved; a breakup could be necessary to bring that balance. However, I am very firm that I don't want Finn thrown under the bus for the breakup. But who am I kidding? Finn always meets the bus to give Sinn angst, and it has been that way since the two got married.

I think with the correct writing, a Bridget/Finn arc could be fun. Both being doctors as well as the dynamic between Bridget and Steffy as rivals practically writes itself. Amber is a little hotheaded, very different from Finn's calm persona, but opposites attract, and with her history with Steffy, it could be something interesting. Finn would benefit from a new pairing since we've only seen him with Steffy. I just do not want that woman to be Hope.

You’re right about all this and the Sinn fans I follow feel the same.

But the writers are in a hard place with Finn because he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t because he isn’t Liam.

I have seen every excuse under the sun for Finn bashing : He’s too nice, oh no he’s going to be crazy like Sheila, he doesn’t stand up to Steffy, oh he didn’t agree with Steffy so she better dump him! He likes Hope, Steffy better dump him and go back to Liam because he said Steffy’s always been the one!

Let’s face it, the audience does play a part in what gets written.

And unfortunately the Triangle From Hell was shoved down our throats for years. Its ghost still haunts this show.

For years Steffy had no other options.

Tanner/Finn has been tasked with the unenviable position of competing with the formidable Liam/Scott Clifton to win over Steffy and her fans and imo he was up to the task and he did it!

Steffy finally fell for another man and moved on and many of her fans joined her.

But there’s still fans that want Liam and that is imo why the show has had a hard time writing angst for Sinn, because they are probably seeing the same posts I am that bash Finn for just existing and being someone who rivals Liam and they try to write around that.

IMO they got to get Steffy and Finn new rivals, new stories.

All they would have to do is write Steffy as a nice person. But they don't. They seem to want her to be nasty.

I think they think it’s being tough and a badass, like a Stephanie

And they’re always going to have someone who’s against Brooke and Hope.

I think they really should create new rivals for these people. Forrester vs Logan is old and overdone.

I agree. Finn can't even say no to Steffy. He can't empathise or feel any kind of emotion for Sheila. He can't even talk to Hope. And Liam can keep lying to Steffy and dumping her and still some fans will prefer Liam over Finn for Steffy. Finn isn't allowed to have any imperfections where Steffy is concerned. It makes zero sense to me.

The idea that these three characters that have been staples on this show for years before the writers decided that Steffy shouldn’t be single anymore and wrote in a purse holder with some kinda halo needs to be propped by Finn is laughable.

If every other character on the show can be made to be dum and unlikeable why not Finn why is he immune. ?

They've done that enough times to Finn for the past two years to prop Liam, Steffy, and Sheila. As a Finn fan first and foremost, I am not interested to go down that road again. I would rather Finn rise above all these three.

The idea that these three characters that have been staples on this show for years before the writers decided that Steffy shouldn’t be single anymore and wrote in a purse holder with some kinda halo needs to be propped by Finn is laughable.

I said what I said. It doesn't matter that they are established characters prior to Finn's existence. I can point out that the writing has often been a disservice to him since they reduce him to plot device for these three characters. I am allowed to feel that way.

Finn always gets thrown under the bus. You are so right.

Fortunately the character’s natural goodness and Tanner Novlan’s wonderful portrayal and chemistry with JMW keep Sinn a beautiful couple.
