Can Ivy and Liam ever be a viable couple again?

Based on some recent quotes from Ashleigh Brewer and Scott Clifton, it sounds like this former couple is about to get closer and maybe reconnect. Not a spoiler... just my own interpretation of the actors' interviews.

This is the most likely probability. Liam (her true love according to her) is single for the first time ever.
Wyatt is gone (for good, apparently).
Thomas lived between New York and London for years, now he is in Paris, Ivy was in Melbourne since she left L.A. I'm not buying the ''off screen romance'' speculation for them.

I have mixed feelings about this. I have always liked Ivy more than Steffy or Hope.
This is the only time I really loved a romance with Liam (if I don't count Quiam or Lally...)
I like Hope the most with Thomas.
Not crazy about Steffy with Finn but anything is better than Steffy and Liam. Wyatt is the only guy I enjoyed with Steffy.
Ivy was a nice girl most of the time. She made her share of mistakes but who hasn't? She is a saint compared to Steffy and Hope.

Her love for Liam never waivered... It was love at first sight, literally. She was already into him when he was engaged to Hope (before her ambushed wedding with Wyatt in Monte-Carlo). But she gave him the time and space he needed. She never pressured him or judged him. They had a beautiful relationship until Quinn ambushed them in this green card wedding so her son could have a shot with Steffy.
She still wanted Liam after he went back to Steffy. She was using Wyatt as a distraction. I don't think she meant to hurt Wyatt, but it's true. She told Liam she would only move on with Wyatt if she was 100% sure there was zero chance for them. Steffy overheard Ivy calling Liam the love of her life before she fell down Eric's stairs (and before he hit his head in the plane and accidentally took off with her).

Later Ivy came back twice and her feelings for Liam had not changed a bit. She made her last attempt to reunite with him shortly before Steffy divorced Wyatt for Liam. She accepted Liam and Steffy's relationship, but she never got over him.

In Liam's mind it has to make a difference, when he compares the 3 girls.
Hope betrayed him so many times with other men. He doesn't know about 1/10 of the kisses she shared with Wyatt, Thomas and Oliver. There was always someone else in the back of her mind. Their 2 marriages in 2019 and 2023 ended with Hope serving him with annulment or divorce papers and moving on with Thomas at light speed.
Steffy is just as bad in terms of betrayals. She conspired with Bill and manipulated the first marriage, divorced him after her miscarriage and slept with his father during the third marriage. He also found her in bed with his brother. How could he still even trust and like Steffy, I will never understand.
Ivy doesn't have this baggage. No waffling, no cheating. She only wanted him and never hurt him.

The reason I have mixed feelings because Liam really treated her horribly the 2nd time Steffy came back.
I don't think he cheated on Ivy (maybe 1 kiss with Steffy, but it didn't go further) but he stringed her along and dumped her without much consideration once the truth about her immigration status came out. Much later in the storyline, he called her a "rebound" between Hope and Steffy. And he rejected her multiple times for Steffy. It tells me their relationship was always too one-sided.

What's going to happen now, almost 8 years later?

It can't be as simple as a Livy / Thope / Sinn combination with everyone living happy together. Where would be the drama if Livy happily start over without drama? I can't see Liam moving on with Ivy and leaving Steffy and Hope alone. He wasn't loyal to Hope nor Steffy, why would he be able to commit to Ivy? Why would Ivy trust him again if she sees he still wants a married Steffy.

I also doubt Hope and Steffy wouldn't have a strong opinion about it. Both girls disliked Ivy and never really supported her with Liam (Hope kind of did after Amsterdam, but it took her a long time). Steffy terrorized her with all her "accidents". The rivalry between Steffy and Ivy was very intense for some time. Maybe Hope would be supportive (she looks totally over Liam right now, hopefully it stays that way), but I find it much harder to believe for Steffy... especially when her own marriage is getting more and more rocky. What are the chances both girls welcome Ivy with open arms and support a possible reunion with Liam? Close to 0% imo...

Here is my question... What's the point of reuniting Liam and Ivy if he is going to use her and toss her for Steffy or Hope again down the road? It'd make Liam look even nastier than he already is. His character doesn't need more waffling storylines. SC is a good actor, and Liam is hardly a bad person in soaps standards (if I compare him to big criminals like Bill Ridge Eric Thomas Deacon Rick) but his waffling makes him completely unworthy. For once in his life, he deserves to have a rootworthy romance, one that doesn't involve waffling and not loving his girlfriend like she loves him. But is it conceivable?

As much as I'd like to see Liam and Ivy together in a viable romance, I don't see how it can be possible as long as Steffy and Hope are both on canvas. Even if one of them left Los Angeles, it would still be difficult to trust Liam's commitment and believe Ivy isn't his 3rd choice. Aren't they doomed?
First possibility, they will be happy on the backburner while Thomas-Hope-Finn-Steffy get more screentime than them.... Boring and not soapy.
Second possiblity, they'll be doomed before it starts because he'll still be in love with one of his baby mamas and Ivy will end up as heartbroken as the 1st time. When is Liam getting some therapy? How many times will the bus run him over before he gets a viable love story.

Hopefully I'll be proved wrong but if I had to respond to the question in the title... it would be a no. :frown

I don’t know. The show has a lot of work to do with the 30 something year olds. I thought Zende was safe until they brought him to the Runa story.
