Why is Ivy coming back? My 2 theories

"Poison Ivy" (as Quinn used to call her) was such an annoying character especially the last part. I was glad when she left.
But now I think her character is needed. Too many women left in the last 5 years (Caroline, Sally, Nicole, Maya, Sasha, Flo, Zoe, Quinn, Shauna, Paris, Taylor).
A woman in Steffy and Hope's age group is desperately needed.
If Ivy can shake things up, let her come back. Here are my 3 theories.

1) She wants Liam back and it'll be a catalyst that brings Steam closer.
I still believe the goal is to reunite them (I think so since the kiss in Rome). But it will take time. If they do reunite, it won't be before the end of this year.
Steffy and Finn will have a huge crisis when Sheila reappears and Steffy finds out Finn was looking for his mom with Deacon. Her marriage is fragile enough, but Sheila's return will make things worse.
His "friendship" with Hope will eventually cause major problems too.
Steffy sticking her nose in Liam and Ivy's business would add more fuel to the fire.
Steffy said more than once she was fine with Lope because "Hope is a decent woman" but she never felt the same way about Sally or Ivy.
I doubt Livy will make her indifferent especially if her own marriage is crumbling at the same time.
I think more and more they're setting up a Thomas-Hope-Finn triangle. Finn is developping feelings for Hope but they won't come out until after Steffy dumps him.
He won't cheat on Steffy, but if his marriage falls apart, he will chase after Hope.
Finn hates Thomas with passion, and these Finn/Thomas fighting scenes weren't put there for no reason.
If Steffy is no longer an option for him, do you really think he will quietly let Hope and Thomas be happy? I don't. He will want Hope for himself.
So this is my first and most likely theory. Ivy and Steffy's rivalry for Liam is resurrected, while Finn and Thomas battle for Hope.

2) Ivy and Thomas reconnect off screen.
Ivy laments that she never got over Liam but that he isn't interested in her. Thomas is still grieving his relationship with Hope.
They remember that they almost had an affair back then. They secretely reconnect in Paris and come back to LA together.
Maybe they have an agenda, and they agree to pretend they are together so they can see Liam and Hope's reaction. Or they are a legit (but short-term) couple.
Hope realizes what she's missed and starts to fight for Thomas. Beginning of a new rivalry and a new triangle with Hope and Ivy. Of course Hope wins in the end, Ivy wouldn't be more than angst.
Meanwhile Finn-Steffy-Liam goes on in a separate triangle.

There is a 3rd theory, Ivy hooking up with Finn. But that one is very unlikely and wouldn't bring much drama.
I don't see Steffy ever fighting another woman for Finn. On the contrary, if he shows interest in another woman, she will be done with him.
It would also mean return of Thomas-Hope-Liam's triangle and I can't see it.
If Hope stays with Thomas and Steffy goes back to Liam, Finn and Ivy could happen on the other hand. But it would happen much, much later down the road.

IMO, it's either Steam vs Livy + Thope vs Hinn OR Sinn vs Steam + Thope vs Tivy.
What do you think and what would you rather watch?

Finn has shown zero interest in Hope and is not crushing on her at all. Their relationship is very platonic; he sees her purely as a friend and nothing more. Finn explicitly told Hope that Steffy and the kids are his life—the best part of his life. He also expressed to Hope that from the moment he saw Steffy, he knew she was the woman for him and the love of his life. Additionally, Finn strongly hinted that Hope should reconcile with Liam. How does any of this suggest that Finn is "developing" feelings for Hope?

Sinn will undoubtedly be dealing with the Sheila crisis, but I don't foresee a Steam reunion happening anytime soon. If anything, Steffy and Finn will overcome the challenges once again. They have consistently refused to let Sheila break them apart for long, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Also, Steffy would absolutely fight another woman for Finn. If Steffy would fight the biggest villainess in Sheila to protect her marriage, another woman showing interest in Finn would be a walk in the park! Plus, Steffy said it herself that Finn is her soulmate.

Ivy's return is for Liam. No woman ever truly gets over Liam after spending time away, as we've seen with both Steffy and Hope. Ivy will return and still be in love with Liam. The recent Steam/Lope scenes hinted at Ivy's return. Liam has emphasized to both Steffy and Hope that his priority is being a father, and he spent so long wavering between the two women. To demonstrate Liam's growth, the writers need to detach him from both women, hence Ivy's return.

Last week, Hope's comment to Liam, "Who knows what the future will bring us?" was strong foreshadowing. Ivy's return will thus significantly impact both Hope and Liam. During the breakup scenes between Thomas and Hope, there were heavy mentions that Thomas needs to find a woman who can commit. This was another foreshadowing point. Thomas will return from Paris engaged to Ivy, which will make both Hope and Liam jealous. Liam will want to rekindle things with Ivy (also to prove he isn't waffling between Hope and Steffy), and Ivy will want him back since she would be settling for Thomas, and Thomas would be settling for her. Meanwhile, Hope will want Thomas back as well but will still refuse to get engaged. They are setting up a Thomas/Ivy/Hope/Liam quadrangle, in my opinion.

Liam has said that he's doing soul searching, so if Liam chases an engaged Ivy, then that will be no growth for him because then it will be similar to him trying to get a married Steffy back last year.

And an engaged Thomas will definitely have a divided heart, so that will make him no different than Liam. Therefore, Hope's attraction to his I'm a one-woman thing will disappear. LOL.

Liam specified that he needed to stop waffling between Hope and Steffy. I believe that was the main takeaway from their conversation. The issue lies in his indecision; pursuing Ivy won't prevent his soul-searching. She may simply represent a part of that stage his life—a rekindling with the one that got away. We've also seen Ridge engage in this kind of "soul-searching" before, and we know it won't last. Liam's soul-searching likely won't last either.

Ivy will likely serve as a source of third-party angst for Thope, pushing Hope to finally commit to Thomas. This could be a strategy to prompt Hope to "fight" for their relationship. Thomas will still be in love with Hope, and Ivy will still harbor feelings for Liam, which could make Tivy a very short-term relationship.

I'm just speculating here, but I believe Hope's line about "who knows what the future will bring to us" was a signal indicating Ivy's return. Her comeback will thus undoubtedly impact Hope and Liam. Ivy, being Liam's ex and she may find herself entangled in a relationship or situation involving Thomas. However, this is all just speculation.

Pursuing an engaged Ivy will prevent growth from Liam though..as she would be someone that's not available no different than a married Steffy.

And Hope's line about "who knows what the future will bring to us" could also be interpreted as a Lope reunion down the road..especially since Hope and Liam have acknowledged that they are on the same page in life..they're both doing soul searching and focusing on kids, themselves, and career.

Yeah, it's all just speculation..and even if there's a Livy, it'll be like Thope imo..short-term..not meant for an actual viable, long-term deal such as Bridge, Lope or Sinn.

I don't know, I just think these writers may be planning to illustrate Liam's "growth" by having him focus on another woman that is not Steffy or Hope. Regardless of whether that woman is attached or not; the point is Liam won't be a Hope or Steffy problem.

That line could also mean a Lope reunion; I thought that as well. Those scenes could have been resetting them for a potential reunion to make sense in the future. I think knowing Ivy returning soon conciding with Thomas' exit makes me think that is the most likely route. Ivy returning with Thomas impacting both Hope and Liam in different ways seems to me like a potential direction.

Liam and Ivy definitely won't last, that we can definitely agree on.

Yeah, and my main take away from this past few weeks was that Hope and Liam are on the same page in life, while Thope are definitely not on the same page. Huge difference, despite her claim that she loves Thomas. So imo, doesn't matter if it's Livy or Thope..both doomed to fail, definitely won't last. LOL.

Shown on screen, Steffy blackmailed Bill. Yet, she told Ivy (and Liam too) that “blackmail is a crime”. Per Steffy’s own words, she IS a criminal cuz she has blackmailed.
