I am not watching because I loathe this plot point. But, this is just a bunch of stuff and nonsense that is written to advance the plot and as in many other plots on this show, there many gaps between what really happened and what fits the current story.

We have all seen this evolution of Douglas's life and this is not it. He adores Hope. Unless it was shown that Thomas told all those lies, it didn't happen. Those foul lines are there to shock and further the plot.

Anyone remember all the lies told during the parent trapping story line? How about the lie that Ridge abandoned his kids? Not a word about Taylor abandoning them though and she actually did it. There are many examples of this phenomenon. I call it "expedient storytelling" to put it nicely.

Right. Unless they show factual evidence through dialogue or scenes that Thomas had some conversation where he told Douglas what to say and Douglas just all of a sudden after all this time fighting to not be manipulated by his father just caved in and did it for no good reason, I'm going to say it didn't happen.

Douglas went through a lot in the past when he had to listen and obey his father. He just gave a whole speech about how Thomas changed and was his hero. I don't think Thomas is going to get that boy to say anything to hope that the boy does not mean. And I don't think Thomas wanted to hurt the child and make the child do that. He just was telling hope how he needed to protect the child.
