I dont see Steffy and Finn acting "OOC" with Liam and Sheila (General)

If 2 things were made clear throughout this relationship in my opinion, that's it. Steffy's divided heart with Liam and Finn's internal conflict about Sheila. In 3 years and a half, there were constant reminders and alarming signs. These were hard to ignore. For this storyline, I am reading full articles theorizing they are acting ''out of character'' or ruined for Sheila. I don't agree and I don't see anything OOC right now. On the contrary, I think their actions are brutally true to character.

Nothing OOC about Steffy getting too cozy with Liam, not setting boundaries or exhibiting jealousy towards him and Ivy. I can't totally overlook the context of the beginning of Steffy and Finn's history. I can't ignore how she was still scheming with Thomas to get Liam shortly before her motorcycle accident. She kissed Liam and made sure Hope would see the kiss and dump him, then she asked him to move in and kept quiet for weeks. That's how desperate she and Thomas were to land Liam and Hope for themselves. This storyline happened right before Finn's introduction. How many months did she date Finn with the giant portrait front and center on her wall ? How many times was she looking at that pic and thinking about Liam before mannequin gate? She slept with him the moment he made it sound like his marriage to Hope was over. She said she didn't regret it and couldn't deny she still wanted him when Hope lectured her. No matter how many lies she told Finn later, she still said it : she will always love Liam and she doesn't regret this night. She only decided to stay with Finn after Liam put the pieces together (about the blowup mannequin). Her boyfriend was the last person on her mind when Liam informed her he changed his mind and wanted to stay married to Hope after all. She looked genuinely heartbroken about his decision, as if she was certain they were going to reunite. Then they spent a whole week of episodes professing their everlasting love. ''Rebound'' was written all over Finn's face. The writing for Steffy and Liam has been steady since this paternity test. She is always first to comfort him if he needs her. He can come to her house and vent about Hope and Thomas, she'll be listening and won't judge him. Boundaries were never set even if she knew Finn would disapprove. Then the only person on her mind when she woke up from her coma was Liam... even had to be informed by Liam (of all people) that he was already married to someone else and that she had a husband. If it wasn't a strong clue of why she married Finn in the 1st place, why did this storyline happen? She is still unable to reject his kisses, as shown twice last year. I often thought that Sheila was the perfect pretext to spend more time with Liam... much like Quinn was her excuse to dump Wyatt. Her behavior in 2024 is far from OOC, she may not want Liam back but she doesn't want anyone to have him, especially not Ivy. I don't minimize her hatred for Sheila but she also wants Liam to remain single "just in case" her marriage falls apart. Liam's divided heart was one of the main reasons why Hope fell hard for Thomas and refused to fight for her marriage, and I'd like to see Finn with a similar epiphany about Steffy. If they break up, the main reason will be his connection with Sheila, but her feelings for Liam aren't helping. I hope he will call Steffy out for her double standards just like Hope did with Liam when he left her. Why should he cut his mother out of his life and fight for this type of harmful marriage?

Nothing OOC about Finn and Sheila's bond. I fail to see it. His character has always been conflicted and caught between his wife and his mother. From day 1. Again, I can't overlook all the times Finn showed vulnerability when it comes to Sheila... it isn't like those feelings are coming out of nowhere. Steffy already dumped him 4 times because of his apparent feelings for Sheila. She refused to sign the marriage licence because she noticed his vulnerability even after the Forresters told him every details about Sheila's dark past. She later signed this certificate because he made a clear promise and she believed him. He promised he would never have contacts with Sheila or want her in his life. These promises were broken multiple times during the 6 months following the wedding. He told Hope and Paris the opposite of what he told Steffy. I don't remember all the details but the signs were hard to ignore. She kicked him out after she walked in on Sheila, Finn and Hayes bonding in her living room. He was forced to live in the guest house for a few weeks and that's when he revealed his genuine feelings about Sheila. They exchanged a bunch of message texts with emojis. Paris and Hope weren't judging him (unlike Steffy) and he was able to express his true feelings. And it's still true today, he feels free to tell Hope how he really feels about Sheila. He made it quite clear that deep down he wanted to build a relationship with his biological mother. I still remember an episode with Steffy/Liam and Hope/Finn offering 2 opposite points of view about Sheila and Deacon (January 2022 I think). 2 parallel scenes with Hope and Finn bonding and saying they wanted a chance to bond with Deacon and Sheila, while Steffy and Liam were vowing to keep Sheila and Deacon out of their lives forever. Later he paid Sheila a visit at her hotel and once again, told her the complete opposite of what he was telling Steffy. The only time Finn wanted nothing to do with Sheila was after Monaco, but it didn't last long. She moved into Eric's mansion when she learnt he had contacts with Sheila in prison, after the trial, and on the beach with Kelly. She dumped him again and moved to Paris when he asked her to cut Sheila some slack and couldn't explain the video of the hug. If she leaves him again, it will be the 5th separation in 3 years (6 if I count the forced separation following the shooting). These separations wouldn't have happened if Finn had been totally firm from the beginning. I'll always remember these words when he hugged her in jail : when you hold me like that, it feels like something I have been missing my whole life. This confession summed up how he truly feels about Sheila. His actions from April and May 2024 aren't OOC. It wasn't a matter of if but a matter of WHEN he would welcome Sheila back into his life. Maybe it's because Steffy isn't giving him the attention he needs. Hope wasn't getting it from Liam because of his feelings for Steffy, thus she decided to go all the way with Thomas. One of the reasons why Finn is drawn to Sheila may be linked to Steffy's connection with Liam. My theory is he was always a little insecure and may be subconsciously tired of sharing her heart and thus he appreciates the attention Sheila is giving him.

Sorry but I'm not one bit surprised this storyline is happening. These 3 years of marriage were based on lies. Maybe Steffy and Finn won't even break up over this, who knows. Maybe Liam will reject Steffy for Ivy, Hope will reject Finn for Thomas and Steffy and Finn will fall on their feet and save this marriage in the end. But I can't pretend they are acting OOC after everything I have seen. One day or another, Steffy was gonna waffle with Liam and Finn was gonna choose Sheila. In my opinion the writing was on the wall.

I agree about Steffy and Finn not acting OOC with Liam and Sheila..the ONLY difference is that Steffy does love Finn too, and so far she hasn't fall on top of Liam..yet. LOL. But if Finn continue to not behave like his demanding mommy wife expected him to....she just might fall on top of thirsty Liam who's itchy for her.

Also, I don't ever wanted to see Thope again..they are the worst duo on this show..creepy, forced, and disturbing given their history. Good riddance!

Shown on screen, Steffy blackmailed Bill. Yet, she told Ivy (and Liam too) that “blackmail is a crime”. Per Steffy’s own words, she IS a criminal cuz she has blackmailed.

I acknowledge that Finn was conflicted before the shooting and was curious about Sheila, wanting to get to know her better. However, his current behavior seems out of character given his previous development regarding Sheila. He hated her for an entire year without wavering. His current conflict about Sheila feels like a regression, as he had already learned from his past experiences with her. To have him suddenly torn again is nonsensical and appears to be driven by plot rather than character consistency.

This dates back to the champagne/label switch incident. Even before he and Steffy were shot, he spoke to himself in the car, saying, "You’re evil. You’re never going to change. You just better stay away from my wife." Therefore, this was his no performance. He was speaking to himself in his car. After being shot and waking up from his coma, he expressed nothing but hatred towards Sheila. He said he hated her, told her someone should have put a bullet in her head, nearly choked her to death, lunged at her multiple times, declared that Li was his real mother and Sheila was just an incubator. When he thought she had died from a bear attack, he felt relieved and didn't shed a tear. He was glad his family no longer had to worry about Sheila. He even investigated her faked death and firmly believed his connection with her ended when she shot him. He described her actions as diabolical and worked with the police to try to imprison her. His loathing for Sheila was consistent until the jail hug.

The jail hug seems entirely plot-driven with no buildup. It was random and out of the blue. It took place when Liam became single and Sheila's storyline needed a new direction. To justify Liam's pursuit of a married Steffy and give him a reason to hate Finn, and to provide Sheila with another connection besides Deacon on canvas, they sacrificed Finn's character. After rightfully despising Sheila for a year after she shot him, his wife, held him hostage, attempted to murder Li, drugged, stalked, harassed, and blackmailed him (without facing any consequences), Finn suddenly stopped hating Sheila for the sake of Liam and Sheila's storylines. This 180-degree shift in Finn's character is extreme and illogical. Sheila has done too much to Finn for it to be believable that he would ever forgive Sheila, and therefore taking away Finn's hatred of Sheila took away his character development. As we know in soaps, anyone who defends or believes a villain has changed, ends up being played and the fool, therefore, for Finn to be falling for Sheila's nice act/manipulations once again, is character regression. Additionally, it makes no sense why Finn can't hold a grudge against Sheila like all her other victims.

Great post. I think Steffy is too domineering with Finn to make a suitable wife for him. Steffy may love him, but she does not treat him as an equal. I also don't think that Steffy is acting out of character. Whenever Steffy does not get her way, she leaves. She was different for a while with Liam, because she had competition with Hope. She would do anything to snare him away from Hope. I can also see her divided between Finn and Liam. Otherwise, she would have set boundaries with Liam. I can see how Hope, like most wives, would feel uncomfortable with her husband being besties with his ex-wife and running to her with all of his problems. Not only did Steffy put herself in the middle of Hope's marriage, but Liam also put Steffy there. The same thing is happening with Finn and Steffy's marriage. I can see how Finn would feel uncomfortable with Steffy running to Liam with all of her problems. Not only is Liam putting himself in Finn's marriage, but Steffy is also putting him there.

Exactly. And IMO, domineering Steffy makes men like Finn and Liam look weak/wimpy..neither men know how to handle trouble maker/bully Steffy at all. The ONLY man that can handle her is Bill but that ship has sailed.

Shown on screen, Steffy blackmailed Bill. Yet, she told Ivy (and Liam too) that “blackmail is a crime”. Per Steffy’s own words, she IS a criminal cuz she has blackmailed.

With a character like Finn there is no out of character because they haven’t really developed him as a character. He was brought on to be Steffy’s Prince Charming. And then Covid happened and I think that adversely affected the characters development. As a result many fans created their own idea of who Finn is and anytime he does anything that strays from what they imagined it is considered ooc.

Yes Finn hated Sheila after the shooting but in the years since that has shifted. There have been signs of a shift sprinkled throughout this story. It was inevitable. The only thing surprising to me is that Bell waited as long as he did.

Yes Finn hated Sheila after the shooting but in the years since that has shifted. There have been signs of a shift sprinkled throughout this story. It was inevitable. The only thing surprising to me is that Bell waited as long as he did.

Finn was introduced during the COVID season, so I don't think that was what affected his character development. I think Bell just waited too long to introduce his parents and give us a background. Within 2-3 months of Sinn meeting each other, Jack and Li should have been on canvas.

If Bell wanted Finn to be torn in regards to Sheila, he should have done so before the shooting, before she held him hostage, and before she attempted to kill Li. Bell would have to know that this would be a difficult pill to swallow. Watching Finn, a victim of Sheila's, absolve her is cringe-worthy and would turn fans against him. Additionally, they haven't given him enough protection or outs to justify and explain those "feelings," so now fans are struggling to connect with him or care about it. The concept of a birth mother or an illogical primal connection does not work, as children cut off parents who have raised them for far less. Bell grossly miscalculated how receptive fans would be about Finn being torn in regards to Sheila, especially given his comments towards Thomas. They are throwing Finn to the wolves. Finn hating Sheila is much more interesting; there is a reason why the hostage arc was must-see TV and one of Finn's best moments.

It doesn't help that everyone can see this story is happening to reunite Steffy and Liam down the line, and give them clean hands in doing so. It feels like these feelings about Sheila are for the plot, and not about giving Finn layers.
