I am still trying to interpret what he meant - he said he wasn't playing "charming"..so he was playing the scene with a negative connotation - which one, creepy vs unbalanced vs other???

He is correcting the person that said he called them out. He didn’t he agreed with them. Their assessment is that Liams’s behavior is manipulative and at times even villainous but that is not the narrative the show presents of Liam he is considered a hero of sorts.

Scott thinks Liam’s behavior is manipulative and that is how he plays it. But he doesn’t know where this story is going and his comments are not indicative of what’s to come. Just his opinion.

More simply, he's saying the narrative of the show casts Liam as a "good guy." but Liam's actions, to SC, are those of a villian.

Wait, is Liam literally talking to Steffy's photo? Scott Clifton is fantastic, and they're trying to play this as charming. But think about it: If that was Thomas talking to a picture of Hope, everyone would be freaking out.

I, for one, was absolutely not playing ‘charming

This is from the Nov 17 follow up article:
“He later went on to say that his response was a way of confirming what I’d seen as “the disconnect between the apparent narrative and the actual behavior of the character.” It’ll be interesting to see if this time, we’re actually going to play that Liam is one majorly messed up dude. Especially after what happened next“

So here's what I think he meant; SSK speculated that they think Liam is being written to be charming and courting Steffy to come back to him but his behaviour is anything but charming. I think SC is agreeing with them that his behaviour was NOT charming, and he's also agreeing that TPTB may be trying to portray this as a love story. I think that's what the disconnect between the apparent narrative and the characters behaviour means.

Also, the words apparent narrative I think are important. I think that means the story isn't as simple as Liam now realizing Steffy was the love of his life all along and trying to get get back. That's the apparent narrative. The actual narrative is something else, but we don't know what that is yet. But once we find out what that is, Liam's behaviour will match that actual narrative much better.

Yep. What we saw was Liam starting to act unhinged, not charming, when he was talking to Steffy’s picture. I think we will see him go dark in one way or another. SC doesn’t want to give too much away at this point, and may not even know exactly where his character is headed.

That's not what he said though. He said he was confirming their assessment.

I don't think he's talking about what everybody else in this thread thinks he's talking about personally. I think he's talking about that one scene and how they said he was playing in his charming and he said he was being anything but charming in that one scene.

But I don't get what he's confirming. Because they were wrong that the scene was being played as charming.

Here is what Richard Simms said at SSK:

"He later went on to say that his response was a way of confirming what I’d seen as “the disconnect between the apparent narrative and the actual behavior of the character.” It’ll be interesting to see if this time, we’re actually going to play that Liam is one majorly messed up dude. Especially after what happened next…" I believe the "he" in this quote is SC.

It sounds as if RS had posted about ...."the disconnect........" and that SC was responding that he agreed with him.

RS also posted that he thinks Hope did not mean she loved Tom, kinda sorta, and that when she said it she was in a heightened emotional state, but that all Tom heard was she loves him...and that may lead to trouble for Hope down the road. He also said that Hope was now behaving like Liam, reacting to a situation by jumping into another situation without thinking. It seemed that the writer thinks that Tom may backslide again because of it.

He also mentioned that Liam looked at her when she answered the door like...."where was this smokin' hot look you are working now, when we were together?"

This is exactly what I mentioned before that Thomas will misinterprets her “ I love him for that” and only hang onto “I love him” in his crazy mind. I really do think bunny burning fatal attraction Thomas is coming. JMO.

And actually Hope has dressed in this smoking hot look for Liam during their marriage! Funny how quickly it’s forgotten.

It still doesn't make any sense RS was incorrect that the narrative in the scene was that Liam was trying to come off as charming.
