The Thomas-Hope spoilers were massively exaggerated (General)

Soapoperadigest used to be the most reliable source of spoilers. Now SID has disappeared and more and more sites stopped giving spoilers. The only 2 remaining sources are Daytime Confidential and SOD. Now both constantly make up or exaggerate spoilers.
Can't rely on anything for the spoilers at this point, if even SOD isn't reliable. Most of the Summer previews from last year didn't happen. Half of the November sweeps didn't happen. Same for the New Year previews and the February sweeps. They promised a unique story for Lope, but there is nothing unique about them arguing over Thomas and Douglas. Thomas getting a new love interest didn't happen. New characters were supposed to appear... didn't happen. Zende and Paris were supposed have a third party... didn't happen. Eric and Donna were supposed to be tested with a character who is firmly against their relationship... Didn't happen. They said Wyatt would be more involved in the stories... didn't happen. Li and Jack were supposed to have a story with Bill.... Didn't happen. Bill was supposed to convince Finn to give Sheila a chance... didn't happen. There was also something about Deacon in the February sweeps, and it never happened on my screen.

And the spoilers are so overblown lately, especially with Thomas and Hope. I didn't see anything electric or attractive in those scenes. Thomas had his usual sick Thope flashbacks which shows he hasn't changed one bit. But I don't see anything suggesting Hope is attracted to him. She was wrong to rehire him and she is wrong for so many other reasons but I don't see any romantic vibes on her part. It's only happening in Thomas's head. And Steffy's. If anyone has been stirring the pot last week, it's Steffy. Sheila is still tormenting her and her family but she can't stop talking about Hope and Liam's problems. What's wrong with her? Given her history with Liam, I think she should be a lot more concerned about her own feelings than Hope's. She should wonder what she would do if Liam was single and wanted her... Finn asked that question and she never gave him a propper answer. Why is she worrying about Hope instead? Thomas is single and wants her, but she is still married to Liam... that should answer her question. I saw more electricity in those Hope/Steffy arguments than Thomas and Hope. :whistle

In fairness Sheila hasn’t come near her in months so they have to give her something else to do.

As for spoilers I have all of the SOD magazines and peek back periodically and almost all of the predictions come true just not always the way we except. Yes weekly spoilers are often exaggerated and that Bill & Finn spoiler was weird but the reality is often there are production reasons that the things don’t happen. It's to be expected. Deacon had almost no spoilers this year beyond the restaurant so not sure there.

I read the November sweeps and NY previews again yesterday.
- The Eric/Donna section definitely never happened. There was supposed to be a mysterious character who would find this relationship inappropriate and try to come between them. We're almost in April now, so the episodes we are watching now were filmed weeks after these previews were released.
- Same for Paris and Zende. They previewed a triangle and said a third party would come between them. They hardly ever interacted since Christmas.
- The Li/Jack/Bill section was entirely false as well. In fact Jack hasn't even appeared since that preview. And Bill's last scene with Li aired before these previews.
- He also promised "new characters". There hasn't been one so far, except that Hollis guy (Brooke's date) who isn't even reccurring. RJ and Stephen are not new characters.
- The one about Lope was a big fat lie. There was nothing original or unique about Thomas using his son and trying to kiss Hope.

In particular the one about Li Bill and Jack and the one about Eric and Donna. Those were very detailed previews and nothing happened. This is so weird!!

My understanding was always that those big overarching spoilers looking ahead for months were straight from Brad Bell, so if they don’t happen I guess he changed his mind?

So true. And those "revel" and "electric" spoilers set off a firestorm of discussion about Hope and how she's betraying Liam and putting Beth in danger only for us to find out last week that Hope and Liam are fine.

Well, I separate both topics, though.
On one hand I don't see anything inappropriate in these scenes. I don't think Hope is secretly in love or attracted to him, like Steffy seems to suggest. I don't think she will betray Liam or has bad attentions.
On the other hand I emphatically disagree with her decision to work with Thomas or be close to him (friendship, family moments with Douglas,...). I felt this way after the Beth story, and it's even truer today after that recent evil CPS scheme and his attempt to kiss her. As far as Beth being in danger, I don't know. But it's clear that baby should never be in the same room as Thomas again. He IS dangerous, always will be, and those flashbacks confirm that he isn't over her at all. He just hides it better.

Daytime Confidential has never been a reliable source, it's just a soap blog like many others and they simply reword the spoilers from SOD & TV Guide that have already been released, putting their own spin on them. SoapCentral, for example, does it the same way.

SOD and TV Guide are the only sources left that get their spoilers directly from the B&B publicists. So I don't think you can blame SOD for making anything up. They just print what they are given and what they are asked to promote. Only the show itself is to blame when those spoilers are exaggerated, misleading or even don't play out at all.

As for the specific spoilers you've mentioned that haven't played out in your opinion... When Bell talks about a "unique story" like he did for Lope, everyone should know better by now than taking this expression literally. The triangle for Zende and Paris could still happen once RJ joins the show. The character who's against Eric and Donna's relationship might be Stephen, who has only just returned. And nothing was ever said about a story for Li and Jack with Bill. Only a story for Bill was mentioned (which turned out to be his story with Sheila) and that Li would somehow be involved. Bell never said that Jack would return for that storyline, only that he MIGHT show up anytime, which is something totally different. Of course, when he is asked about a character's return, Bell would always say that anything is possible. But that doesn't mean he's actually planning to bring that character back. And Wyatt did return a few times in scenes with Bill and Liam as part of Bill's storyline. Given the fact that he hadn't been on screen for months before the start of that storyline, he has certainly been more involved lately.

So the show's track record when it comes to spoilers that haven't played out at all isn't as bad as it may seem. And spoilers being overblown isn't really anything new. This has been happening for years or even decades.

Regarding the Thomas and Hope episode, i thought the spoiler was accurate. I sensed electricity there and not necessarily in a romantic way - but the chemistry of tow people working well together and creating magic through design.

in regards to SOD , sometimes the show switches the path at the last minute, the old ''re-write'' hence spoilers not happening.

and finally sometimes it is also the way they are interpreted

I found this post on this board in December.

deacon: something real happened there with sheila and deacon, but deacon is trying to distance himself from sheila. he really wants to create a better life and be a better person. he's going to take his job seriously and really try to make a go of it as a restaurateur and take over running iI giardino.

paris/zende: with thomas gone, zende, along with eric and the whole design team, will be heading up the hope for the future line, so he is really going to have an opportunity to strut his stuff as a designer. and he and paris love one another, as friends and as co-workers. will this be their year? there's going to be someone who is going to challenge him and vie for paris's affections.

eric/donna: they're happily cohabitating; they feel no need to rush to the altar. but there is going to be someone who's going to appear, someone we know who doesn't like donna and eric together. in fact, this person thinks that it's really appalling that they're together and is going to challenge their existence in a very aggressive way.

Those were posted more than 3 months ago. There are max 6 weeks between the moment they shoot scenes and when they air on CBS. Deacon hasn't distanced himself from Sheila, he's done the opposite. No one is vying for Paris' affections and everybody likes Eric and Donna together. In the last 3 months I've seen the exact opposite. :lol

The Thomas-Hope spoilers were massively exaggerated

I disagree. Soap opera digest and Soaps in depth spoilers are true.

Bradley is the head writer of this show.
I believe that he changes his mind about things and decides not to do it. So he’s the only one to blame.
