Can Sheila change? (General)
Sheila would now be in prison for a very long time but Bill and Ridge are helping the FBI uncover all of her crimes? What if they do not uncover anything else worthy of criminal prosecution? It gives us more time with the unpredictable Sheila Carter. It just seems illogical. However, I hope Sheila eventually becomes haunted by her memories of harming others. Maybe one day she will become remorseful and change her life for good? Weirder things have happened. It would be great to see a dramatic change of heart for her and family restoration in the future. The impossible becomes possible like the friendship of Stephanie and Brooke or now Taylor and Brooke. Things we thought we would never see.

No.... I can't think of a villain who has genuinely changed on Bold. Don't know for other soaps, but on Bold it's always the same pattern. They say they've changed but it they don't really mean it.

I can think of Michael Baldwin who was brought in as a creepy villain on YR. He was obsessed with Cricket, tried to rape her and kill Paul Williams, it was alluded that he killed a woman named Rebecca. He was a lawyer. He went to prison for his crimes. I believe he was raped or at least assaulted in prison. When he came out of prison he was changed for the better. He made amends to Cricket and Paul. She went before the Bar, and got them to reinstate his license so he could practice law. Cricket and Michael became law partners and the three of them have been friends ever since. Michael really did change his life around. The thing is he learned what it felt like to be Cricket and he was truly remorseful for his crimes. He has gone from the most hated guy on the show to one of the most respected characters.
So yes, if the writers want to they can redeem a character. I do think they need to show the viewers that the character has paid for their crimes, they are remorseful, and show that the character has changed for the better. I do not think giving a character amnesia or a brain tumor really works that well to get the viewers to forget a characters past. I think it is all about them proving that a character has changed by the situations they find themselves in moving forward.

I think we may get an amnesia story so we may see who Sheila would have been without childhood abuse.
I don’t know how long you have been watching but they did that story in the late nineties where she really tried but people were constantly against her and she eventually reverted.
No. Sheila will always be a villain at heart.
I watched her kill Lance by setting bees free in the room she locked him in. It was horrible. She watched him die through the window, smirking. This creepy person cannot change and suddenly be "good".
No one would ever believe it.

In the real life anyone can change but on a soap, I don’t know. Soaps tend not to let go of a characters flaws because when characters are better, some consider them boring. Look at Thomas. Honestly, until he is happy with some other woman I will never get past his obsession with Hope which I find so sick and not romantic. The show ruined it for me. Mental illness is not a joke. Sheila is far worse than Thomas, far worse. I think Thomas needs jail time and I think Sheila needs more jail time.

I think they are cut from the same cloth. I do not feel that Thomas is mentally ill unless you called spoiled brat syndrome a mental illness.
I do however believe Shelia is mentally ill. She was unloved by her parents and Molly blamed Shelia for Shelia's father leaving them. Her parents taught her that she was unworthy of being loved. I also believe that Finn is her first born. Finn's father all but admitted that he took advantage of her when he got her to hand over Finn. The way she was so obsessed with Scotty and the things she did to keep him, shows me that she was badly damaged by someone. There is no way she would have handed over Finn if she had lost her baby with Scott first.
Of course this is my feelings toward both characters.

Actually no...... Scotty is around 33-34 on YR. In order to be a doctor Finn would have to be around 35-36 .(Which is closer to Steffy's age) ... Shelia left GC and came straight to LA. She did not have time to find Jack and give birth to Finn between cities. Shelia was in LA for 6 straight years... For Finn to be younger than Scotty he would be only 25.
Of course the writers are idiots and can deSORASed a character if they want. I guess they could have a middle aged Steffy married to a young adult if they want to.

Sheila did lose her baby with Scott. She miscarried, then faked the rest of her pregnancy. Then she stole Lauren and Scott’s baby.

I said that there was no way that the Shelia we know would ever have handed over Finn to Jack if she had lost her baby with Scott first....You would have to be a woman who has given birth to understand this. The Shelia on both shows has always wanted her babies. Handing Finn over to Jack messed with Shelia. A woman who wanted and loved a baby as much as she loved Scotty would NEVER hand over a baby to a man that sweet talked her into it. (And yes, she loved Lauren's baby as her own) By both accounts Shelia was a very young nurse when Jack took advantage of her. By the time she met Scott, she was no longer that young innocent nurse. My theory with Shelia is between the abandonment she felt towards her parents and Jack abandoning her and taking her baby is what lead Shelia to what she did to Scott and Lauren. The whole Scotty saga was to fill the whole that Jack took from her.

Sheila can’t change. She’ll always be whispering her little menacing threats to herself how other people have to pay.

They should have gone ahead and made Sheila a lesser villain, but instead, they chose to keep this mess up. They could have moved her out of the criminal realm, but they had to compound it with the shootings and now by this ancient dig into her past.
