In a dream world a dad puts his kids first. There are plenty of men who dont. I am not saying all men are that way, just some. Ridge puts Ridge first. He always has. I can't stand this Ridge. Hey deserves those nut cases. I hope Brooke never has to kiss him again and she moves on to a better man. Ron Moss will always be my Ridge.

I agree but I think in the old Ridge it came across more often with a certain flippant charm where as this Ridge is more cold and aggressive, imo. Either way, he’s still a jerk.

Not sure where you saw a livid Ridge. He was actually pretty calm during the whole conversation. Right after telling Brooke that CPS wasn't an option, he was already trying to calm her down, telling her that he would take care of the situation with the knife, so that she wouldn't have any more reason to fear for Douglas' safety. He even hugged her!

Things were absolutely fine between them when he left the house. He doesn't feel at all like he needs to choose between her or his kids right now. As far as he is concerned, he got through to Brooke and no one will have to worry about her calling CPS as soon as Thomas agrees not to use a knife like that around Douglas again. And he let Thomas know about Brooke's words because he thought this would make the "changed" Thomas act even more careful and responsible around Douglas, which would in turn make Brooke believe him about Thomas being a changed man.

What Brooke said today wouldn't be a problem between Bridge tomorrow at all if CPS weren't suddenly showing up at the mansion because of the call. So if Thomas is really the one making that call with the voice app to frame Brooke, then anything that happens to Bridge as a consequence will all be on him, no one else.

But seriously how long is Ridge supposed to deal with the drama of his wife and his kids being at each other's throats? It's gotta be draining.

Of course it must be draining. But it's not like that drama is mainly Brooke's fault. His daughter was the one declaring a war against Brooke and her family, not the other way round. And his kids are the ones constantly pressuring him to choose between their family and Brooke's. If they hadn't been trying to destroy Bridge's marriage for months, Brooke would have no reason to believe that Douglas was just a pawn in their masterplan to break up her and Ridge.

Brooke would also have every right to complain to Ridge about Steffy's behavior with the intercepted phone call and the repetitive family dinners that she isn't invited to, but she doesn't, because she knows Ridge is a victim too of his kids' constant badgering and because she understands how important it is to him to spend more time with his other family after everything they went through because of Sheila. She loves Ridge so much that she would never selfishly take these family moments away from him, even though she knows exactly what Steffy is up to, how she is using those gatherings to play matchmaker for her mom.

And the only reason Brooke keeps complaining to Ridge about Thomas' behavior is because his actions involve her daughter and her grandson too. Friday's episode for example made it more than clear that Douglas loves Brooke and wants her to be part of their Forrester family activities, but Thomas quickly made sure that Douglas wouldn't keep asking her to join them by telling him that Brooke was too busy, which was an outright lie and which alone proved once again how Thomas is still selfishly putting his own interests before his son's.
Not too long ago Brooke was raked over the coals for allegedly manipulating and abusing Douglas by simply telling him not to dwell on the past. But when Thomas is blatantly lying to Douglas to keep him away from his grandmother, making him believe that she is too busy to spend time with him, it's no big deal at all? While Brooke is the instigator and the mentally unstable one for feeling threatened by a knife pointed at her by an angry Thomas and for being honestly worried about her grandson's safety because of Thomas' history? I just can't believe all this victim blaming.

Great post! Episodes air a few days behind here and I had no idea Douglas had asked Brooke to join them and Thomas shut him down. I agree with your thoughts on that (and everything else you’ve said here). Just further proof of the toxic environment Douglas will be in if he’s being made to believe his Grandma can’t make time for him. Not to mention the confusion of seeing Brooke kiss Deacon is now being repeated with Douglas seeing Taylor and Ridge all over each other but none of them seem too concerned by that.

Then he should act like the husband he his and honor his marriage vows by telling his almost middle-aged kids that while he loves them, they need butt out of his marriage. It's none of their business. But Ridge is too childish and selfish to do that.

I was reading some transcripts the other day, including from when Hope was first aged and Katie went with “Hope for the Future” over Steffy’s “Glamour” line. Brooke supported Hope, Ridge was on Steffy’s side and Stephanie, Taylor and Steffy were all in Ridge’s ear, saying that a good wife would chose/support her husband over her child...
If Ridge is so tired of Brooke minding Hope and Thomas’s business, maybe he should tell Taylor and Steffy to butt out, too and to stop treating Hope like she’s been babysitting Douglas and it’s time for him to come home.

And Brooke wants the opposite - why is it so wrong of her to want the exact same for her child? She clearly hasn’t tried to stop Thomas spending time with Douglas in the past and she has a better reason than Ridge for wanting to keep things as they are - she thinks Thomas is not mentally healthy and it seems pretty likely she’s about to be proven right... again.
Both of them should just stay out of it but it’s not just Brooke in the wrong here.

I’m sorry - Thomas and Taylor should have had prison sentences. In some states if you don’t do something to save a life (in a safe manner) you can be charged. And Taylor
shot a man in the back. So Brooke is absolutely right to have misgivings about the whole family - including knife wielding Steffy.

I agree, Brooke is spot on in her assessment of Thomas and I think it’s about to be shown that she’s right about him - again - he seems to be on another downward spiral.
It’s ridiculous that we’ve just been through this shooting storyline without mention of Steffy shooting Sheila and Taylor shooting Bill - all three are nuts.

Also in some States, Brooke would be in prison for shoving Thomas over the cliff, and Hope would be in prison for shoving a pregnant Steffy into a desk. They’re all criminals on some level.

I didn't see the Hope and Steffy scene, but I don't think for a second Brooke meant for Thomas to fall over the cliff. She instinctively shoved him away from her, and he fell. I think Brooke was horrified.

They sure didn’t. Even when they should have been there when the kid was barely 4 or 5 and his mother died. They should have been the ones helping Thomas care for the kid. So what’s the big deal now? He is more of a Forrester at 11 than 5?
After Hope, Brooke Liam and Ridge take most of the responsibility because Thomas was scheming, they are supposed to not care anymore.

IMHO No way should any person choose their grown kids over their spouse, ever. To me that is ridiculous. Marriage is a contract and commitment and no where in those vows and promises does it say, "in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, or until your grown kids need you to choose them over me" It is absurd, no one would stay happily married and no one would have a good second marriage if one had grown kids that they prioritized over their spouse. Why would anyone even bother to marry someone with grownup kids if that were the case? I am not talking about helping out with grand-kids or financially, I am talking about if you had grown kids like the Hamilton Brats that expect their daddy to dump his wife for their mommy. Or continually expect their parent to take their side over their spouses.

Tom and Steffy have issues, but they are not Ridge's issues to fix. It is their place to fix their own issues. He did not desert them as children. He did not ignore them, abuse them, etc. He loved them, and yet here they are, continually blaming him for ruining their "childhood". They need to grow up. And Ridge needs to stop enabling them. JMO

Actually they blame Brooke. Here's the thing. His kids may be grown but their still his kids. I supported Brooke preventing Ridge from throwing Hope out so I'm equal opportunity here. Ridge has to stand by Thomas. Yes Brooke is his wife but that can change. Thomas and Steffy being his children cannot. It's wrong of Brooke to expect Ridge to side with her against his own flesh and blood.

While you should support your children I don't believe that Ridge should automatically side with them. If they are wrong they will be better off being corrected than taught no consequences for their actions. What would be the point of marrying someone if you don't love them enough to defend them? Why give them your last name if it doesn't make them family or important enough to respect? Wedding vows also have the words "put NOBODY above you" at least mine did and the preacher said it was traditional vows.
