Agreed! Kkl deserves one after all these years of hard work! I think she had better material a few years ago (better SL, just my opinion) and should have won for those but i'm glad she's nominated! A true soap veteran!

Congratulations to the nominees.
For Bold, disappointed there is no Douglas. He would have been my first choice.
As for Katie I'm curious to see which scene she is going to submit. She only had one storyline in 2019 (the kidney transplant) and it was more Flo's story than Katie's.

I’m curious about TK..I can’t seem to remember what major s/l was Ridge in? And I’m surprised no nom for SC given that his performance with Beth in the crib..the scene where Liam first realized Phoebe was actually Beth..that was powerful.

Heather Tom as Best Actress? She had no true storyline! KKL yes! She acted her tail off for the past two years of solid performance, but Heather barely did anything! Was not Annika the leading actor in her storyline? She should have been nominated for Best Actress, not Heather. Compare the number of appearances Annika had vs. that of Heather. How can you make any sort of impact judging on the lack amount of days work regarding the character of Katie? This should be reversed...Heather for support and Noelle for best actress. Annika took a poorly written character and storyline and delivered. It is not her fault nor should she be penalized out of her rightful category for a poorly constructed storyline.

I would like to know why AN is in the supporting category when she dominated the episode counts of ALL daytime soaps, and the last 2 years almost exlusively revolved around hope.

Also, did SC turn anything in? He usually does i think.

Not sure why he didn't submit. It's not like he didn't have material. When he tells Hope the baby didn't make it. Or The scenes when he takes the baby in the crib and realizes it's Beth and cries were Emmy worthy. Maybe he wants to let others win.

It would be nice if the audience is informed of the guidelines of these awards category process. This isn’t the first time that an actor dominated the episodes but appeared in supporting category and I doubt it’ll be the last time either.

JMW for example..it was only last year 2019 that she switched into the lead actress category. But before that she was also nominated in the supporting category when she was already in a lead role with the most episode counts of anyone.

The guidelines are quite clear. To be nominated for the lead your character must be front and center. For example: the baby switch storyline is about Hope’s reaction to losing her child. To help tell her tale we have Flo and Steffy and Thomas and others supporting the storyline getting it to its conclusion. The result is the return of Beth. Annika IS the leading actress. Katherine is the leading actress in her storyline regarding the loss of her marriage to Ridge because of Thomas. Now Annika supported Katherine’s storyline there. But Heather? Fine actress though she is, I believe her storyline was just filler for a mini Flo redemption arc—her illness story just doesn’t compare to what Annika did, nor to what KKL did! It’s as if the show busted Annika down to support in order to give their two senior actresses a shot at the award, or else the period of eligibility has changed or something!

I get what you’re saying, but my point was there were others in the same situation as AN that were indeed in a lead role like JMW was the leading actress in her infidelity/ONS/paternity test s/l that happened at the end of 2017..she was front and center for months, but then she was nominated in the supporting actress category which made no sense to me either..at the time.

Last year in 2019..was the first time JMW was finally switched into the lead actress category. IMO, it doesn’t seemed very clear how they determined which leading players get to be in the leading category or supporting category. Maybe because KKL and HT are veterans in soaps while AN is a newbie compared to them?! IDK.

Jmw got her Emmy in the leading category for exactly the SL you described (paternity test comming out with Liam walking out, to the 'i choose me moment').

I think SC got An Emmy (i could be very wrong about this) for his 'adam and Eve sl' in which jmw did indeed play a supporting role rather than a leading one compared to SC and RS. Imo anyway

I don't quite recall which SL or scenes jmw submitted in the supporting category before these ones. If anybody knows, i'd be interested!

Like I said already her infidelity/ONS s/l actually happened at the end of 2017 (in November), but then she was nominated in the supporting actress category for this major s/l where she was front and center for months.

It wasn’t until 2019, she got moved into lead actress category. Prior to 2019, she was still in the supporting category even though she was already in the lead role with many major s/l’s during 2016-2017.

Jacqueline is a veteran of soaps. I watched her grow up on the bold and the beautiful. Annika is new to daytime. She's also new to B&B so it's perfect sense that she would be up for supporting actress. Well either way I'm happy for Annika.

Congrats to all!

I would like to know why AN is in the supporting category when she dominated the episode counts of ALL daytime soaps, and the last 2 years almost exlusively revolved around hope.

Also, did SC turn anything in? He usually does i think.

I don't know exactly how these things work, but I do know that JMW did the same thing..prior to last year. Before 2019, she also entered as supporting actress category when she dominated the screen with the highest episode counts of ALL soaps.. with most of the major s/l's like the triangle with the Spencer brothers, her CEO job, her weddings to Wyatt/Liam, her infidelity/ONS, her paternity test, her pregnancy etc.

You are right, AN did top the episode count list for 2019. I have never heard of an actress who led the episode count for the entire year for all the soaps nominating in the supporting catagory.

Yes, she did. That's what I mean. I've never heard of an actress (or actor), who was in more episodes than anyone else from every soap for the whole year, submit their reel for the supporting actress.

I have heard of it..JMW did it before AN came along. It's not the first time an actress who dominated the screen and had the highest episode counts of anyone in all soaps and nominated in the supporting category and most likely won't be the last either.

The difference is JMW was not the dominant story for nearly the entire year when she went for supporting. Unlike AN that had a story that revolved around her for 8 months and then started another major one once that story was resolved.

Sorry, don't see much difference because the episode counts speak for itself for JMW..she clearly dominated the screen in 2016 and 2017 with the most episode counts and she was involved in most of the major s/l's.

Prior to Hope's return, Bell focused a lot on Steffy..her triangle with the Spencer brothers, her weddings/marriages to them both, her CEO job, her infidelity/ONS, her paternity test, her keeping the secrets etc. So IMO, she should have been entered as the lead actress category before 2019.

Perhaps, seniority has something to do with the Emmy process? KKL and HT are both veterans in soaps where as AN is a newbie.

JMW was in the supporting catagory for 2018, which covered the episodes in 2017. She did not lead the episode counts for the entire year over 2017. The actress that led the counts was Amelia Heinle with 175.

In comparison AN led the episode count for 2019 with 202; she was in 64 more episodes than the next actress from another soap and 37 more than the next actress from B&B (which was KKL). That is completely dominating the episode number on all counts. So she really should have submitted in lead. The idea that she submitted because she is a newbie doesn't hold up since JMW submitted in supporting in 2018.

I don't only look at 2017. I know JMW dominated B&B episode counts for MULTIPLE years (since her return in 2015)..and at one point she led the episode counts in all soaps..which tells me she's been in the lead role for a good long while with many major s/l's, yet she did not submit in the lead actress category until 2019!

If we are going purely by episode counts, JMW should have submitted in the lead category before 2019, but she didn't. Like I said in my other post, maybe the Emmy's look at seniority..and if that is the case, then it makes sense.

It matters because a young actress who worked her heart out is not getting the recognition that she deserves! In my opinion, the show requested this hard working actress drop down to supporting because the production felt that she could not win! Newsflash...Annika has the best chance against Maura West because of the shear amount of emotional performances she put in! I will be surprised if KKL would win against West, and Heather Tom? Again excuse me, what did she do in comparison to Maura West? This was a political decision on the part of Bell and co. They know that the baby switch storyline was derided and they are trying to put distance away from it by putting on HT and KKL for the best actress nod!

What I said above, "I have never heard of an actress who led the episode count for the entire year for all the soaps nominating in the supporting catagory." and you told me that JMW had done exactly that: "I have heard of it..JMW did it before AN came along."

The numbers show that JMW in fact did not lead in episode counts over all the soaps the year that she submitted to supporting actress. No actress that I can find led in episode counts overall the year when they nominated in a supporting catagory.

What difference does it really make? Bottom line for me is that JMW led B&B in episode counts for multiple years..and AN did this past year. JMW probably wasn't the first leading actress to entered the supporting category and AN probably won't be the last either. I'm done here.

No doubt in my mind that AN was phenomenal in the Beth s/l. it showed the depth of her acting skills..she was simply amazing. Perhaps, you are right that this is all politics by Bell..given that KKL and HT are both veteran soap actresses and AN is such a newbie compared to them. JMO.

Congrats to all!

I would like to know why AN is in the supporting category when she dominated the episode counts of ALL daytime soaps, and the last 2 years almost exlusively revolved around hope.

Also, did SC turn anything in? He usually does i think.

You are right, AN did top the episode count list for 2019. I have never heard of an actress who led the episode count for the entire year for all the soaps nominating in the supporting catagory.

I have heard of it..JMW did it before AN came along. It's not the first time an actress who dominated the screen and had the highest episode counts of anyone in all soaps and nominated in the supporting category and most likely won't be the last either.

Patriotgirl already posted JMW's supporting actress Emmy reel in this thread from 2018.

Length of time on a soap should not be considered for nomination jmo

Maura west to me is tops ...and she gets new storylines so she gets to show a lot of emotions .....I love the acctress....I think in last year Brooke and heather would be sopporting but that’s just me....who know....to me they are all good....a whole year of sobbing with the baby drama was too much recycled scripts and same old fir months on end ..hopeing more jmw when they return ....and more psycho tom minus the kid abuse of course

As much as I can’t stand the Hope character I thought with the dragged out baby script Anika would be nominated for acctress not sopporting....she didn’t sopport anyone...In fact Lang and heather I can’t think of a major scriot ....anika should have been nominated in best acctress for sure...still can’t stomach the character..But anika deserved the nomination she did a lot of work last year
