If Poppy had told Finn what would have been the fallout

That is why I am not bothered by Poppy not telling Finn that he could be Luna's father. It would have not done anyone any good. If Poppy had told Finn, then Li would have pulled a Stephanie and taken Luna from Poppy. Because Li is a hateful judgmental shrew. Lets look how she treated Luna before she found out about Jack cheating with Shelia. (until that mess hit the fan, Li never suspected that Jack had ever cheated on her) Li was cruel and abusive towards Luna and she had no say in Luna's life. That is exactly how Shelia was treated by Molly and Mr Carter and looked how she turned out.

Finn is looking through the lens of a 40 year old man who obtained his degree and has a career. He loves being a father to Haye's and stepfather to Kelly. He is not looking back to how this would have affected his present. He would have been stuck in a dead end job, probably a waiter like Hollis was, or maybe a pharmaceutical rep like Vinny was to support a kid. He would not have been able to finish school unless if Li and Jack supported him through college. (But would judgmental Li bother to help him when she found out how HE shamed her and their family) Then what would have happened to Luna. She would have been raised by a shrew and by a father who hated her because she ruined his dreams. If he was lucky he would have been able to become a nurse with a 2 year degree. However it would have been Luna who would have suffered in that home.

I bet when Luna kept demanding who her mother was, Li would have told her it did not matter because she was dead to them all. Stupid hen pecked Finn would have supported that. There is no doubt in my mind that Finn would not have had the so called wonderful family with Steffy, because Steffy would not have given ole surfer nurse boy with a crazy obsessed daughter a chance. She sure was not interested in Geeky Computer Boy until he became a rich man's son.

Li was always a shrew towards Poppy and she ran away from her and their father because nothing she ever did gained their approval. . There is no doubt in my mind that Li would have tried to poison Luna's mind against Poppy. I could hear Li referring to Luna's mother as shameful, a gold digger and a S. Why not, she did that to Luna's face when she dared to get a job at FC. There is no way that Li would have allowed Poppy and Luna to crash at her house if she even remotely suspected that Poppy slept with Jack. She is too much of a b to have allowed that and it would have driven her more batty and hateful to wonder if Jack was doing Poppy while she was at work.

I can understand why Poppy would want to keep Luna's paternity a secret, but according to dialogue she really wasn't sure the father was. There is no doubt in my mind (with no proof from dialogue) that Poppy wanted someone to love her and not be so judgmental. She got that with Luna. According to Luna, Poppy was her friend as well as her mother. She stood up to Li and came to Poppy's defense. That all changed when she met the Tom Star from his letters and just like her new step mommy she decided that the man she knew to be her father was not good enough for her.
