Taylor and Thorne are responsible for Aly's mental problems. Taylor for killing her mother and Thorne for trying to replace Aly's mother with the woman who irresponsibly killed her. Thorne and Taylor carrying on their affair even when they knew how much Aly hated it and Taylor caused the damage to her. The fact they couldn't control their libido drove a young child insane.

I agree, mostly. Thorne and Taylor get the Lion's share of the blame. Aly lied later, though. Around 2014-2015 she tried to guillotine Taylor with an ax but Oliver stopped her. Then Aly, Oliver, Thorne and Taylor had a long conversation. Aly gave her blessing and said she was fine. She said she made peace with Darla's death and was supposed to be in a happy relationship. The families had no reason to assume she was still harboring su much hatred towards Taylor and Steffy. Everyone thought she was doing well before she snapped.

Was Aly going after Taylor before or after she was showing signs of instability during the Hope, Liam, Wyatt storyline?

After. Aly wasn't with Oliver when Hope and Wyatt were in Paris. Aly had a big crush on Liam at the time. I recall Quinn setting up Aly and Liam on a date.

She started dating Oliver a little after the Paris trip. Then Taylor and Thorne returned from Paris together and that's when she snapped. Grabbed the ax and was going to behead her. Oliver was already dating her. He is the one who saved Taylor's life.
