And Sheila still shot Steffy so it made no difference in the end. Steffy would have probably been shot in the leg or the arm and at long range if Finn wasn't there. Instead Sheila shot her in the throat at close range and Steffy spent days in the coma. To be honest I doubt Finn even knew what was happening. It was a dark alley and he was several feet from Sheila. I doubt he even realized she had a gun until the moment she pulled the trigger. That scene was so poorly written anyway. That whole storyline should've won the emmy of the worst writing ever. Absolutely nothing made sense. I prefer to forget about it

Finn absolutely knew what was happening. There is no doubt about that. It is why we saw him clearly see the gun and and do a little shuffle run to get in front of Steffy. Add that, Finn had a bad feeling that Steffy was in a danger prior to arriving to the alley, so Finn knew he had to get there to protect his wife.

Also, the dialogue has made it clear countless of times that Finn took a bullet for Steffy, and that Finn did this to protect her. It is the in show narrative.

While I agree the scene should have been better written, I don't believe the viewers are meant to be confused about Finn knowingly and willingly taking a bullet for Steffy.
