It Won't Be the CPS Call That Ends Bridge

But seriously how long is Ridge supposed to deal with the drama of his wife and his kids being at each other's throats? It's gotta be draining.

Of course it must be draining. But it's not like that drama is mainly Brooke's fault. His daughter was the one declaring a war against Brooke and her family, not the other way round. And his kids are the ones constantly pressuring him to choose between their family and Brooke's. If they hadn't been trying to destroy Bridge's marriage for months, Brooke would have no reason to believe that Douglas was just a pawn in their masterplan to break up her and Ridge.

Brooke would also have every right to complain to Ridge about Steffy's behavior with the intercepted phone call and the repetitive family dinners that she isn't invited to, but she doesn't, because she knows Ridge is a victim too of his kids' constant badgering and because she understands how important it is to him to spend more time with his other family after everything they went through because of Sheila. She loves Ridge so much that she would never selfishly take these family moments away from him, even though she knows exactly what Steffy is up to, how she is using those gatherings to play matchmaker for her mom.

And the only reason Brooke keeps complaining to Ridge about Thomas' behavior is because his actions involve her daughter and her grandson too. Friday's episode for example made it more than clear that Douglas loves Brooke and wants her to be part of their Forrester family activities, but Thomas quickly made sure that Douglas wouldn't keep asking her to join them by telling him that Brooke was too busy, which was an outright lie and which alone proved once again how Thomas is still selfishly putting his own interests before his son's.
Not too long ago Brooke was raked over the coals for allegedly manipulating and abusing Douglas by simply telling him not to dwell on the past. But when Thomas is blatantly lying to Douglas to keep him away from his grandmother, making him believe that she is too busy to spend time with him, it's no big deal at all? While Brooke is the instigator and the mentally unstable one for feeling threatened by a knife pointed at her by an angry Thomas and for being honestly worried about her grandson's safety because of Thomas' history? I just can't believe all this victim blaming.

Great post! Episodes air a few days behind here and I had no idea Douglas had asked Brooke to join them and Thomas shut him down. I agree with your thoughts on that (and everything else you’ve said here). Just further proof of the toxic environment Douglas will be in if he’s being made to believe his Grandma can’t make time for him. Not to mention the confusion of seeing Brooke kiss Deacon is now being repeated with Douglas seeing Taylor and Ridge all over each other but none of them seem too concerned by that.
