How will the show handle the adoption aspect of this story?

I think most everyone would agree that adoptive parents are the same as bio parents in every way except for the DNA factor, right?

So, what is the justification for Thomas to have Douglas move out of the house he lives in with his mother? I don't necessarily think it will come down to a custody fight. Most likely Douglas's feelings will be part of the decision. Maybe he'll say he wants to live with his dad and they'll all agree that's what's best.

But, what would happen if, when she's the age Douglas is now, Kelly says she wants to live with her father. What if Liam said he wanted her to move in with him? Would Steffy be granted more leverage than Hope is now, because she's Kelly's bio mother?

Of course, the show could always just simply ignore the fact that Hope actually adopted Douglas. They rewrite stuff all the time. But, if they WERE going to write it true to the history, how would they handle this?
