Help me understand Steffy (General)

You know I’m not a fan of this character, but I’m really trying to figure out what the writers are saying. It makes me cringe to watch her listen to Liam plead with Hope. Is that really OK for a contemporary, beautiful, rich business woman? Why does the show write Steffy as if she’s Liam second choice after Hope throws him away? I stopped rooting for Lope after Italian fiasco. Never rooted for Steam. Now, I hate all the couplings, but what I dislike more is watching a woman so desperate for a man. Why are they painting Steffy as so desperate?

Steffy is this way because of Taylor/Stephanie/Brooke.

Taylor never recovered after she lost Ridge.
Taylor and Stephanie created a fake narrative about Brooke stealing Ridge even though Taylor lost Ridge because she cheated and lied about it for years. They told the kids time and time again that Brooke used her sexuality to steal Ridge from Tridge family when it wasn’t true.

Phoebe was the only Tridge kid who was around Taylor/Ridge/Brooke in 2006-2007, so she knew that there were more to that story. She saw how her mother started unraveling, turned to alcohol, killed Darla etc... Phoebe also saw how much Brooke and Ridge loved each other because she lived with them with RJ and Hope.
Phoebe didn’t turn on Brooke because she knew better.
Steffy was at a boarding school and Thomas was traveling.
They didn’t know what started Taylor’s fall from grace. By the time they came back they only had Stephanie and Taylor’s version that they internalized.
Just think about it: Steffy turned into a vixen circa 2010 and that was the time Taylor became bitter and obsessed with getting her life with Ridge back. Even when she was with other men she still wanted Ridge and blamed Brooke.

Taylor also made her kids believe that she was a victim of Brooke and she didn’t fight enough for her marriage. Steffy got scared of turning into a weak bitter woman like Taylor so she adopted what she thought gave Brooke the win over her mom: sexuality and manipulations.
Steffy then became aggressive in her pursuit of unavailable men. She thought that pulling a Brooke, would get her what she wants.
However Steffy is still her mother’s daughter so she also got all of her mother’s insecurities and neediness.
Every time she failed to get what she wanted, she threw temper tantrums like a kid.

This is why this character was/is so off putting to me.
She got all of Taylor’s flaws wrapped in Brooke’s characterization.
Steffy also look down on her mother for not fighting enough.
Steffy doesn’t realize that she’s reached the point where she will always wait for the man she wants to come to her and won’t allow herself to be happy with someone else. The same mistake Taylor made.

Not that Liam is a prize but Steffy thinks he is.
Her biggest achievement, something she took from a Logan. She wants to win where her mother failed.

I think deep down Liam knows it too. He knows that no matter how hard he kick her down, Steffy will always land on her feet and come back for more. That’s why he’s been using her as an emotions dumping ground. He doesn’t get selfish and paranoid about her with other men the way he gets with Hope because there is no real fear of losing Steffy.

And with Hope he has to watch her cause she’s dumb as a rock, pretty sad character that ditzy Hope
