Main World of B&B Site Is Moving

by Scott Novick ⌂ @, New York, Thursday, June 18, 2009, 18:36 (448 days ago)

For those of you who follow my B&B site, you probably already heard this. But in case you missed all the announcements I put on the main site and the more popular pages, I wanted to post it here on the board.

After more than 13 years of being hosted on Compuserve's OURWORLD servers, my fan site for THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL is moving to a new host. The decision isn't entirely by choice. Compuserve, which was acquired by American Online many years ago, has decided to shut down the original Compuserve Classic service, which includes the ourworld.compuserve.com domain, on June 30. So as of that date, the URL that the main site resides on will go away.

But I'm not one to let a little thing like Compuserve/AOL's cost cutting moves get me down, especially when this site has built a loyal following. In fact, I've been thinking about the fact that I may have outgrown Compuserve for some time now, and I've even had a domain where the images and archives for my site have been stored for a while. But everyone knew my Compuserve address and I didn't want to rock the boat, so I kept the familiar URL that had always been home. But now, the "landlord" is "wrecking the building" and it's time to move on, so the World of B&B has a new home.

Last weekend, I copied all the content from the main site to my URL, www.boldbeautifulfan.com, and I started putting redirects in place on the Compuserve site to carry you over to the new site automatically. Those redirects will work until the ourworld server shuts down at the end of the month. In the meantime, if you have any bookmarks or favorites pointing to any pages on ourworld.compuserve.comhomepagesscott_novick, replace that with www.boldbeautifulfan.com, so you won't need the redirects to find the site.

As for the board, the worldofbb.com URL that it "lives on" will stay right where it is; it's only the main site that's affected by Compuserve's actions.

If anyone has any questions about the move for the main site, post them here and I'll try and answer them as quickly as I can. Thanks as always for your support.
